Hi

I have a large A3 size version of the 2nd photo, framed and adorning my kitchen wall at home in the UK.  It is wonderful.  Hubby actually took some photos when we were last in Calis, in order to compare the 1956 pic with how it looks now...they all looked good and we could not decide what to print off!  Still on card in camera.

They are great pics. There is a photgraph/developer shop in Fethiye (can't remember where exactly) but in the window they have an enlarged version of the Fethiye pic sitting proudly in it's window. They may be able to shed more light on when the Calis one was taken. My guess is 1930's

Great pics! Seeing that the beach is still being used to export the chrome mineing, I would guess he Calis picture to be somewhere after WW2 and before the earthquake. So late 1940's, early 50's?

Doesn't Sat restaurant look different before the double glazing was put in - I reckon Phil is about right, maybe early 1950's?

If you look closely you can just see Laffa inside, asking for "a bit more vodka in this one".

3 towers look as though they are extacting something from the area where canal is now , and shipping it by rail. Is this where the sand went??

Chrome - from the chrome mine in calis to a ramp that loaded it on to ships, which is where the Sat is now.
