Hi Kazzie,
click on "reply to topic"
in the box that says "format" you will see a row of icons
click on the camera one which says "insert image" when you hover over it.
post the url of your pic between the two [img] tags.
then click on "post new reply" at the bottom as usual.
Hope this helps

I tried and I failed. I will work this out one day!!!!:-\
-
thanks I will have a go ;)

Step by step guide is here: {A Link to an old CBF topic was here - no longer available}766
Most important thing to know is that you need to upload your pics to some webspace, they won't work sitting on your hard drive, we can't access that and you wouldn't like us to either :)

That is very useful info, Scunner. Now we can put some of our pics up on the forun (no incriminating ones! I think KPJ has all of them!)

www.photobucket.com seems to work for me ok, but can someone tell me what 'size' the uploaded pics should be for best effect - mine always seem to appear oversize on the forum ??.
-
Hi Roy
If you aim for around 320 to 400 pixels width (height at whatever it becomes when you set the width to the aforementioned) you should be fine. A file size of 30-60k would be about right.
One of the best pieces of software for resizing massive photo's is the awkwardly named but free Irfanview - www.irfanview.com - not a large download and all you do is open the original image, just select Image -> Resize/resample from the menu and set the width to the number of pixels described some moments ago.
Hope that helps

Why can't I see these pictures? They are little white squares with a red cross in them!
-
I couldnt get the link to work fendlyra. :)
-
For fendlyra: the /docs part of the url is not required, and straight html such as 'border="0">' should be avoided too.
www. superiorsections.co.uk/villa.jpg works (I have added a space after the www. so it doesn't show as a pic above. Without the space it looks something like this:
and for STEW: your phot is on your e: drive in your pc, you need to upload it to the internet and give the http://etcetc.jpg location.
Hope that helps

Can we have it in laymans language becasue Scunner has explained and shown me how todoit and I still don't know how and I am sure some of you don't either.

In laymans terms (as requested):
1. Read the instructions which are in laymans terms. ( {A Link to an old CBF topic was here - no longer available}766 )
2. If this still doesn't make sense don't post pictures.
3. Type words.
It cannot be made any simpler, if people don't know the difference between a url for a pic on the net and the location of a picture on their hard drive then this new fangled photo posting isn't for them quite yet.
Thank you

excuse me for being a bit fick Mr Scunner Sir
but where will I find the url for me piccies?
and don't you dare laugh!!!
-
Anne - try this....
Open your webspace page or wherever you have uploaded your pic to.
By your pic you will (hopefully) see a URL title for the pic which usually starts of : http://img.(followed by a description of your pic).jpg.
Left click on that line of text to highlight it - then click 'edit' then 'copy'.
Then go to the forum and select 'reply to topic' of the appropriate section where you want to put it.
Click on the yellow envelope thingy which will put img and /img in the text space.
Left click in between the img and the /img then click 'edit' and 'paste'
You can then click 'preview' to see how it would appear.
If you only see a square with a red cross in it - you haven't watched my lips closely enough... put your computer back in the box and take up flower arranging :D 8)

Seriously - if that doesn't work email me your direct address and I will write it all out for you from the beginning... XX
-
This is driving me nuts!!!
There's nothing next to my pics. Only thing I can see is the url at the top of the page yet when I put this in all I get is a box with the red x.
grrrrrrrr
Thanks for your help Roy will keep trying lol
Anne
-
ain't working that way either Roy[:(!]
When I copy from the pic there's nothing to paste when I insert it between the brackets. Only thing highlighted is delete.
Anne
-
Anne,
OK get your computer out of the box again and put the flowers away...:D
It may be something to do with where you are hosting your pics. Quite a few of us use www.photobucket.com as a host site - and it's free. Even I can do it from there so it must be simple.... 8)

The URL at the top of the page won't be any good as it is unlikely to point to the image. Ann what is the address and I will take a look
-
Roy
where does it say it's free???
Can only see a premium account which you need to pay for
Anne
-
Anne, at the top of the page to set up an account it says this
Over the next few weeks we will be upgrading our infrastructure to better serve our users.
Therefore we are currently accepting new "free" accounts between 11am-1pm and 11pm-1am mst!
Not sure how many hours mst is behind GMT though!
-
Anne, see
http://photobucket.com/register.php
They also say:
'Over the next few weeks we will be upgrading our infrastructure to better serve our users.
Therefore we are currently accepting new "free" accounts between 11am-1pm and 11pm-1am mst!'
In the meantime, give me the web address that has your picture on it and I will have a look at why it is not working
-
I've got them stored here
http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph//my_photos
Thanks for the help everyone I'm begining to feel like a right numpty:(
-
This makes it a bit more tricky as it is a secure area that requires a password and userid.
If you want me to look at it for you you will need to tell me your username or password. Otherwise (and more secure) eMail me the picture and I will set it up for you and then tell you how I did it
-
Hey Anne I might be able to post a piccy but can I get up on the Scarlett Bar Bar??? Not a prayer!
-
Here we go...step by step guide - Hope it helps
