Hi, have been reading the forum for about a year now and thought it time I joined.  I live in the UK but have been holidaying in various parts of Turkey on and off for the last 13 years.  The last 3 years my holidays have centered around Fethiye and the surrounding area as it is, to my mind, the most beautiful area of Turkey and living in flat Suffolk I really appreaciate the mountains when I get there! I love the country, the people, the scenery, the amazing history, the gorgeous food and the ease of travelling around the country on their fabulous public transport system.  No matter wherever else I go in the world, I am always drawn back to Turkey and in a strange way it feels as though as I coming 'home' when i'm there. Shame I have to wait so many years to retire as I could happily spend most of my time in this fascinating country.

Hi Maxine and welcome to the forum.  You'll find loads of useful information about Calis and the surrounding areas on here - it's very addictive!

By the way, I think we all spend too much time rushing our lives on to retirement age, so that we can spend more time in Turkey - sad really, but most of us do it!!! lol  Enjoy being young!

Well, Maxine, you're young compared to me! I'm 47, so a few years older than you.  Still both young though compared to retirement age - a long time to wait before we can spend months at a time in Turkey!

Hi kenkay, Kesgrave is in sleepy Suffolk, very close to not so sleepy Ipswich.  Have been down here just over 3 years after a move from Cumbria so I get my mountain fix when I go to Fethiye - just under 2 weeks to go before my next visit - I can't wait!

A belated welcome Maxine. We seem to share the same feeling of wellbeing when we are in Fethiye and its wonderful surrounds - all of which is made possible by the goodwill and friendliness of the Turks, which then permeates into us all.

Hi Maxine, welcome, we are from Cockermouth, Cumbria, and we look out on the beautiful 'fells' every day, so Calis is like being at home to us also. We will be in Calis in Whit week, to see how our apartment is coming on, can't wait.

HiDavid and Claire
I spent at least 2 nights a week at the Broughton Craggs Hotel for several years prior to my ( most welcome ) redundancy. I visited the board mill between Workington and Maryport ( I'll not mention the name )every week. The best of luck with your new apartment. Where actually is it. We're at the Gunlukbasi end of Baris Manco Bulvari.
All the best.
