Title: Installing a well
Post by: heatherhanum on May 17, 2008, 15:43:26 PM
Hello can anyone tell me what the approximate cost of having a well installed in a garden please. I am informed that a well is necessary to water the garden. My place is near Calis/Gunlukbasi
Thank you.

I have been told that to sink a well now you have to get permission from the authorities in Iden? first. Charges for wells vary with the depth they have to go to find water. It is also best to have the work done at the end of the summer when the levels are at their lowest. Here in Uzumlu the cost for a well seems to be between £1500-£2000 plus whatever the authorities want to grant permission.

i got it done for 2500gbp.they said if it was 5m down it was the same price.but as i live up the hill they had to drill 76m and it was solid rock it took them two and a half months.that was four years ago.

Mark's not far out, it was 800ytl, which at the time was around £300 & also included an electricity supply to the pump. The bore was 9 metres

Does anyone know how much it would cost now and how long it would take and can anyone recommend a good company to do this task. I don't live up a mountain I live near the Sunday market.
Thanks
Heather

Not really, the higher price quoted relates to Uzumlu - the cheaper one to Calis/Fethiye. As mentioned, you need only go down 9 metres or so down here, in Uzumlu you need to go much further down to find good water, hence you have an expensive big bore.

£2500 to have a well installed just to water a garden seems crazy to me.You guys must sure love gardening  :) There must be another cheaper solution to this watering a garden problem I'm sure.

Hi there I am sure it's not that expensive to install. I have had a quote for 750 ytl and this would be split between the owners. so this seems reasonable do you think?[?]

Hi Heather. I assumed from the wording of your first post it was a well just for your own garden and your own use and you were having to pay for it. As it turns out it will be paid for by a group of owners it will obviously reduce the individual cost of the well. Happy digging  :)
