Hi All
We're trying to give up ciggies - It's hard!
Got the nicotine replacement etc. but are wondering about the electronic cigarettes.
Apparently they are readily available in Turkey. Does anyone where you can buy in the area & what kind of price they are? Would we be better off buying off ebay?
Has anyone tried them & how did they get on?
Yes, we both know we should have more willpower - we have been pretty good BUT sometimes you just feel like a really good drag - smokers will know what we mean.
Anyone know about the e cigs? Which variety are the best? good offers?

Linda
You could find them in every pharmacy but they are banned in Turkey now .
Cenk

OOooooooh Cenk - banned? Do you know why?
Is it for health reasons - if so what?? OR because the government can't tax them as they do cigarettes??
All the literature here says that Turkey is one of the main outlets for these.
Will they lock us up or confiscate if I bring one over? :-\: :):D

They were banned as they started to be sold everywhere without official permission . I heard the import companies brought them under different name from China and put to market freely .

Linda 2 of my mates have4 packed in using the champix tablets with no problems,, i hav'nt tried them yet.

Derek and I both need to stop, I am intrigued now and have to ask what is an electronic ciggie?
-
Look it up on ebay Karennina - easier to see than tell you.
Basically it's a plastic tube, some look just like a ciggie, with an atomiser cartridge/battery heater. You have nicotine cartridges that go in them & they heat the nicotine & you inhale nicotine vapour that is scented like tobacco. It gives off harmless vapour that looks like smoke so you apparently feel as if you are smoking.
However it contains none of the 400+ carcinogens & extra additives the ciggie companies put in to keep you hooked - so hopefully you cut down use.
I've just ordered one off ebay - hopefully it'll stop us buying ciggies. Sometimes you just need one & then the willpower goes & you have to smoke the rest of them :-(
-
it is the nicotine that keeps you hooked. i have been three months without a cigarette from thirty a day for thirty years but am still on the nicotine gum. if you use a fake ciggy you are not getting rid of the smoking habit surely that will make it harder in the long run
-
It's not only the nicotine now Graham. The cigarette companies have also added other things to keep you hooked - although nicotine is still the main hook.
You can actually use cartridges that have no nicotine OR cut down the amount of nicotine.
It's awful, I know, but it's the actual drag I miss. I don't want to go back to smoking. Still need the nicotine lozenges but sometimes nothing compares to the drag.
Yes I do breathing exercises - BUT!!!!! :-(

In 1998 I used a hypnotist and stopped "cold turkey" after a 37 year habit. I've never looked back 8).

Do they still work during power cuts?

What happens if you get tipsy and forget what it is, and you light it, has all the money it cost you gone up in smoke, sorry about the pun. Alan

Received it today. All charged up & working.
So if you see someone smoking what looks like a long cigarette in a holder OR a pen that light up on the end lol it might be me. We only bought 1 to try so will be sharing BUT it doesn't look anything like a wacky baccy one - not that I'd know, of course!
I must say that I think it might do the job, Carl's not too sure. It feels like you're puffing on a ciggie & you do get quite a bit of smoke. Can't say I've really felt a nicotine hit but we have been trying to give up for 4 months now so hopefully this might stop us falling off the wagon again.
Time will tell!
Hey Keith - there was me thinking you were being facetious THEN I've just had a look at some more sites & realised that they do some electronic cigarettes that you can keep permanently plugged into the USB port of your computer - so that you run them off the mains.
Carl possibly might think that this should be the one I should get as the computer seems to be permanently attached to me or I to it! :-\ However I bought the battery one - so yes i can use it in a powercut - provided I'd already charged the batteries that is! ;)
