Huge match tonight as both teams lost their opening games so a loss tonight and that spells the end of their chances though they will still have a game to play.
Good luck to Turkey, though I am wondering how it affects the Turks during a game.
Do they still manage to do what they usually do well? Like waiters, taxi drivers etc or do they do a disappearing act while the footy is on?
I am thinking about it coz if they get through the group stages we will be there so wondering if the country comes to a standstill when they are playing in big games.
Self service might be in the in thing during a game yeah?
-
While on the subject how about a correct score forecast?
I will go for 1-1.
-
1-0
-
Turkey to win 2-0. Alan
-
Should be fun tonight we will be watching in our
local restaurant in Sogut with our swiss friend
and his turkish son in law..think I'd better go
for 1-1:D
-
Whats that Crabbit? 1-0 Switzerland?:D

FOOTBALL................I HATE FOOTBALL.
I thought this was was the Calis Beach Section. Obviously not.
If I wanted to join a football forum I would. go to a footbal forum.
Im sure there is a football forum on here run by a certain moderator by the name of CRABBIT,
So why Crabbit are you abaiting and allowing it this on this section.
I HATE FOOTBALL LIKE MANY OTHERS DO.
IS THIS THE NEW SECTION FOR FOOTBALL NOW??
-
well done turkey rob got 2 points on his score sheet
-
Why do you waste your valuable time coming here?
-
davey, not you Puma lol
-
Here here Scunner.
I too do not like football but as Turkey were playing tonight I thought I would watch it and I have to say I loved it, am chuffed too cos Turkey won.
-
Not even that, a short tenure consisting of just 15 posts, mainly telling me how crap this forum is.
I wouldn't come back, but that's me.
The original question wasn't about football, it was about whether our Turkish friends do a disappearing act during such important events.
-
Yes I know can not understand it either like you say why bother to go on here.
All of us loyal members know it is a brilliant forum and provides a wealth of information for our lovely Calis.

No, it`s the new Swimming Forum. :D

Davey - you may have a point, but why be so confrontational.
With respect, you could have asked the simple and valid question.. "why was this thread in this particular section". This question would have been valid whether you HATED football or LOVED football.
Had you posted that question, I assume that Scunner would have responded roughly as he has already.
I will always defend someone's right to put there opinion forthrightly but we should all strive to do this as politely as possible.
I feel sure, or perhaps hope, that you never intended to be confrontational, that it just came across that way and that you would agree that we should all move on.

What a result ,cant wait for Sunday

That's harsh :)
-
Just being ironic ;)
Funny thing is, the game (and the earlier one) didn't even get mentioned on BBC News at Ten.
-
That's because they've been discussion their "regional" reporting strategy all day. "why Reporting Scotland" and no " Reporting England". Won't bore you with any further details although I know you probably won't be able to sleep worrying about it ;)
Question: Is this post on or off topic - I get confused :)
-
It may reflect the importance and relevance to the UK that it wasn't mentioned on the BBC News, and was only shown on BBC2.
The Poland game is on BBC1 tomorrow.
-
:) Well done Turkey, a good win tonight 8)

As a newbie and one who likes football I just hope I posted it in the right forum, I couldnt find the correct one, so its tough.
Well done Turkey, absolutey brilliant win against the hosts as well. Davey? I might not like synchronised swimming, but there no need to reply like that. Makes me wonder, my dad told me once we all go through the male menopause, maybe its the time that one or two of us reached that. Not implying you Davey. HONEST!!!
-
England might not get a lot of tv in Turkey, unless they are daft as us, believing that we are good players
-
Davey you might think that the title would give away the fact that it was loosely linked to football. Therefore DON'T READ IT... you are not obliged to read every single topic. However I will say that I think you should perhaps think about being a little more civilised in your posts, I for one am getting tired of your posts constantly questioning how the forum is run and questioning why you joined. The written word is often difficult to interpret maybe you are interpreting some of it incorrectly and benefit of the doubt maybe we are interpreting your responses in the wrong way. Lighten up a little enjoy the forum and it's information - pick and choose what you read. It works for me.

I live in a virtually 100% Turkish area and I was watching the match last night and it was very quiet. When suddenly in the dying minutes Arda scored and from the silence all around the cheers and the clapping burst out from a dozen or so homes....even if I had not been watching I would have known the result. Yes I was cheering on Turkey too. 8):D

You'll find it under General Topics Football.........

Same here, one of the problems with putting it on BBC2 is that I can't get BBC2! BBC1 yes but not 2. I was keeping up to date at home via the BBC website (while watching The Apprentice [:o] ) and being slightly behind, with the score at 1-1 with not long to go, I knew Turkey had scored from an almighty roar from the seafront :)
-
Where does anybody in Calis recommend we watch the Turkey game this coming Sunday evening? We arrive tomorrow. When we were last out a couple of years ago, we watched most of the World Cup games in Scarlett Bar. Is this still a good idea, or is somewhere along the front considered a better option? Maybe we'll bump into a few CBF'ers.
-
Scarlett Bar is still a good idea

Football
Somewhere to post anything football related.
Scunner Quote. The original question wasn't about football, it was about whether our Turkish friends do a disappearing act during such important events.
The original question was as follows.....
Chorleyboy Quote. Good luck to Turkey, though I am wondering how it affects the Turks during a game?
Game meaning the football match..
Not football realated.Scunner?
Why do you bother having all these forums with different topics? Why do you keep enjoying telling everyone if their post is on the wrong topic it will be removed? Why did your best buddy/moderator.Crabbit not move it to the correct football related forum?
Why can't you handle any kind of comment about anything from any member on here which you dont agree with.? Your usual answer is the same one. Its my site so if you dont like it ......We all know the rest.
To answer your question.. Why do you waste your valuable time coming here?
Simple answer. Because I like Calis and like many others find this forum full of usual information. Simple as that.
Football is for football forums which you have on here, NO I do not like football. Its on our tvs every single night and I do not want to spend 4hrs a night watching it.
So to come on this Calis-Beach forum and see it on the MAIN page. NO I do not it should be on it. In the football related topics Yes!
Sorry if it upsets you but I feel I am right here. YOU make the rules. So why dont YOU stick by them as you expect the forum members to.
-
Davey. you do like the sound of your own voice don,t you.
pity its nothing but waffle. 8)
-
I'm sure you would receive me warmly if I turned up unannounced over in your living room and p***ed on your settee. The decision is easy, take us as we are or leave us - and the decision is mine, not yours. If you can't accept the way the forum is run them no apologies. Most people use it as the FREE resource it is, and enjoy it. If you can't, I'll put you out of our misery.
That is my final explanation of how the site is run to you, and my final word on the subject.
-
I do like football. My missus though sounds like davey ( sorry davey) because she hates it and thats why we have two tvs.She can watch her soaps on hers and I can watch my sports on the other.I would not say davey is wrong about this as he is probably right and as it is football realated it should be in the football section.I think by saying in "bold" that he hates football was not a wise move though on his side. But he has had his say, others have had theirs. The game is over so lets all be friends and move on. To the next game. (Sorry Davey} :)
-
Scunner and Mike - nicely put! how come when I tried to say something very similar earlier I was at it for ages deleting and rewriting and never got the point across.:D
-
I to have no interest in football, But I refuse to let my feelings for the game interfere with other peoples pleasure of it. 8)
-
well said mike, i have no interest but hubbie has
who am i to spoil his pleasure

I think the objection was not so much about people liking football or not.It was that it was not placed in the correct football forum but put on this main Calis Beach forum which is after all suposed to be about Calis.Thats how I read it anyway.
-
"FOOTBALL................I HATE FOOTBALL"
Daveys first words on the subject, if he liked football I doubt we would heard from him.

But in the grand scheme of things - nothing to be so upset about surely. Blimey wouldn't like to cut him up on a roundabout! the subject was loosely about football but raised a valid question which was not really about football. With a title like that it seems obvious what it might be about and if you hate it so much then avoid it. rest assured now we know that Davey hates football so much - the discussion about football on this thread will probably run and run:D
