Hi Sunlover

We had the same problem. As the maps are military they are not easy to come by consequently walking books are few and far between. Even those you can get are a bit vague - we have abandoned a few! anyway I bought a book on Walking and Birdwatching in the area from a bookshop in Kalkan. Also the Lycian Way - good if you like linear walks as it splits it up - and Turkish Coast - Kas to Dalyan, a Sunflower guide with some walks in, both from Amazon.
Good luck - and any more contributions would be good from anyone.
Margaret

There have been several published in the Land of Lights newspaper.  Try their website...it may still be possible to access them. We have done Fethiye to Kaya Koy(A bit tough climbing out of Fethiye) Kaya to Affkule . Kaya to Hisaronu both ways and Kaya to Gemiller :)

You can do Ovacik to Faralya on the Lycian Way and then return via the Coast Road.

There's Kaya to Oludeniz which is fairly well marked.

A number of different walks around the Kaya Valley.

Kaya to Karagozler is a very good walk through the forest.

Kaya to Fethiye via Af Kule is also very good but definitely for those with plenty of stamina.

There's a small book called All Dressed Up And Know Where To Go by John Quarendon published in 2002 which describes 12 walks in the Fethiye area.

Alan....do you have any more information on this book......I have been unable to track it down on the usual places like Amazon etc. Even tried alternative spelling of Nowhere[?] :)

It only 26 pages, it's published by Tortoise. Can't tell you anything more.

Some of the info, especially about the Kaya walks, is now a bit out of date though.

There's another book called "Footloose and Fancy Free in Fethiye" by Anita Asar that has brief descriptions of villages in the area and places of interest to visit.

Hi Sunlover,
The book "Walking and Birdwatching in South West Turkey" is Written by Paul Hope who used to live in Gunlakbasi. His address is/was Alcarka Mahallesi Namik Kemal Cad. 887 Sokak No.13, Gunlakbasi Fethiye. Tele.& Fax:+90 252 613 31 39. E-mail paulhope@superonline.com. The book was published by Land of Lights Publishing and the ISBN is 975-00155-2-5.This info is a little dated but i hope still usable.
The book "All Dressed Up and Know Where To Go" used to be available in Kaya at Ekizoglu Mangal Restaurant (where i got my copy)and the small shop near the dolmus stop by the deserted town entrance. Profits from the sale are donated to local schools. Both places used to display and issue free hand drawn maps showing local walks which i found to be fairly accurate.I hope this info is still available.
Kind Regards Bob & Enid

They've got copies of this book for sale in the offices of Baris Insurance in Fethiye. 30 YTL I think.
