We are travelling to Calis on July 12 but haven't yet bought our travel insurance. Can anyone recommend a good online travel insurance site. Thanx, Alan.

We have used flexicover.com for the last couple of years. However with no cause to claim cannot really say too much. Heard that Post Office are very good.

Try Atlasdirect, you can do it all online providing you have no medical conditions to declare.
Also look at post {A Link to an old CBF topic was here - no longer available}22465 about insurance claims.

I can highly recommend simple travel insurance. I found them through the which consumer magazine as they are good for covering medical conditions. They even covered me following an operation 6 weeks prior to taking out the cover.

We get annual cover and for 2 adults and 2 children (and the children can be up to age 22!) the total premium is just over £47.00 for the year - you can pay a bit extra to waive the excess if you wish and there is an additional premium if your over 65, or also, if you wish to participate in various sporting activities.

I've not had to use the company however so cannot say how good they are on a claim!

Before taking out a policy, its always  best to ring the medical number given to check if your medical conditions are covered before taking out the policy.

Hope this helps

T you've got it that's the place.

Coincidentally I am just booking mine now for family cover 2 adults and 1 child (14 yr old). On www.moneysupermarket.com just found:

Single trip £20.00
UK and Europe annual multi trip £35.95
Worldwide annual multi trip £42.90

......all with good cover for cancellation and baggage loss + other bits and bobs (certainly enough to cover you)

and that's for all of us. Just waiting for the Gaffa to get back to see what she wants to do.

Good Luck  8)

Hi cef,

The link to simple travel insurance is:-

http://www.simpletravelinsurance.co.uk/

As I said, the are good for covering pre-existing medical conditions - make sure you declare anything with any insurers or if the worst should happen and you need to make a claim, you will not be covered. Some insurers say that will cover everything but whatever it is that you suffer from which is not a lot of good!

I think the fact they cover family members up to age 22 is also good and you can get cover for less if you do not include baggage cover. I do this as I already have this covered on my household policy

If you have family insurance can it be used by a member of the family for a trip to Turkey when the policy holder is not there? My daughter is in Fethiye in the next week or so and we have only just thought that she may need insurance as we normally have family insurance and she comes with us but this year she is too grown up!

I think you will find that if your daughter is on the policy as a dependant then she will need to travel with one of the adults on the policy to be covered

GB, we had to take out separate insurance for our daughter when she travelled alone last year.  She needs to be with either myself or my husband to be covered by our family insurance.

On another note, was checking for travel insurance for my son and his girlfriend the other night (they are coming to Calis with us for a fortnight in the summer).  Moneysupermarket.com - single trip for two weeks for both of them started from only £12.20!  I was amazed it was so low and the cover was adequate, including everything they could possibly need.

Thanks

We decided to call egg (our travel insurance co) as she is 18 she will be able to travel on the insurance without being with us, however for minors they must be with a family member - there's a bonus!

On the topic of travel insurance - can anyone recommend cheap annual travel insurance for a husband and wife that allows stays up to 90 days at a time?  A lot of the cheaper ones permit up to 30 or maximum 60 days.  We have no medical problems (yet!).  Thanks.
