The amazing thing was that 20 years ago and onwards , you came on holiday, went home and had absolutley no idea what was going on in Calis until you arrived the following year. No idea what new bars were here, who was working where, what were the changes etc
No forums to share info . Zilch!
We came one year and the council had bulldozed most of the bars along the front down!
With regards to how many times we have been, probably about 40 (ish times) but never thought to count and have used two passports so couldnt work it out that way.
We have friends who have been coming since 1983 so we have always felt like newbies by comparison.
-
Remember on the last night we used to go in all the bars and restaurants to say goodbye to everyone we had met on our hols and then on the transfer back to Dalaman someone would say we forgot to say goodbye to thingy in whatshisname bar happy days

I got fed up of going to Calis for holidays, it was costing a small fortune in flights, so i moved there, i'm saving a fortune, now if i want to go on holiday, i can go somewhere else, best idea i ever had. Alan

28 years and still love the place, still one of the best places in the world.I first arrived in turkey on the 24 may 1980 no tourists just the big brown dancing bears in chains and lots of gypsies.Stayed in marmariss in a road side cafe for about 20pence a night.Daylan beach was off limits unless you were escorted by someone official. There was no visa charges then, how ever todate i have 33 stamps in four passports. How things have changed today in marmariss, but every where else not to much change over all these years.
-
42 years and love it now as I did then, stayed in Marmaris in 1967 when it was a small fishing village, the biggest change is how clean everything is now,
Turkish dwellings have always been clean inside but the outsides were totally run down, not though it mattered, Its the people that make Turkey special. 8)
