Ermm,
Scuns old chap, no to be too nitpicking or blatantly called a racist, but you depiction of the Turkish national flag whilst
bannering "calis-beach.co uk) would make one (such as I),seem to at least, wonder why the Union flag is not shown on the same page?

I think it was in connection to Turkey doing so well in the Euro 2008. They did so well and conducted themselves with great dignity.

It's a forum about Turkey, specifically a place in Turkey. Why would I put a Union Flag up?

Simply because you are running it under the ".co.uk" moniker. Change it to ".tr" no probs. You may be ashamed of the Union flag as a lot of folks are, but you cannot deny that many of your contributers are UK based, even though they would rather be in Turkey.

1. Your internet id has the .co.uk address. you cannot deny that so why do you defiantly fly the Turkish flag with no reference to the web site address??
2. Telling me to "belt up" is tanamount to a Mugabe-esque mentality type instruction whereby all decisions made by you are not to be questioned.
You may be the Webmaster on this forum but you should not deny peoples right to question you decisions, or if you allow this, reply with such an insensitive reply.
I would like to know how many members are UK based and how many will never live in Turkey? Of those who regard that country as a "spiritual home", how many would want to give up their heritage and assimilate themselves into the Turkish culture, maybe even converting to Islam?
You and I and others owe their very being and present location to the British instituion, yet you are prepared to deny a simple acknowledgement such as the Union flag to unite both the countries on your forum.
On this basis, I question your reply.

Mr Duffy Sir - come on, whilst I respect your opinion and your right to 'flag it up' (get it....?!), if Scun wants to fly a flipping purple flag with green dinosaurs, he is perfectly entitled to do so. I have a website named after the original name of Fethiye, it is a co.uk address, I am an Arsenal supporter, but the website advertises AFC Liverpool.
Should I scrap it and just put a big Union Jack on it. :D

I said so prior to your recent request as to why it was there. I intended to leave it there for only a short time, only changing my mind when I joyfully discovered it irritated you. England didn't make the finals so some sort of dual flag graphic would not be appropriate.
There, the Calis Mugabe explained. Please let me know your thoughts on the blue/orange colour scheme, the general layout and how you think the forum is run.
Oh, on second thoughts don't bother. Many members will not have been around for the vitriolic personal attacks on me by your first incarnation "duffy" in which you took it upon yourself to try to assassinate my character without knowing anything about me, meeting me or having any other worthwhile or factual basis to post about.

OK, show me the phrase where you stated that you posted the flag as support to the Turkish team when you posted it and I will apologise.
In my original incarnation as "duffy" I was totally vitriolic about certain "Turk" things, you know because I wrote a whole screed about our experiences at the hands of "certain" Turks in Fethiye, to you asking if I should post it on the Forum.
Remember, I described how we lost all of our earnings and capital and everything we had ever saved by supporting these two individuals who now front a so-called estate agency called "Fethiye Homes" (our registered title by the way), I lost the file years ago, but if you still have it, post it with our permission. As you know it sounds very similar to your experiences with the agency you had problems with, the one you keep as a sticky.
Keith, I happen to hold a great loyalty to the country that nurtured and sustained me, even though present government are aload of crap (not the folks), just the voted-in arseholes who made it so.
That notwithstanding, show me the Kernow flag and I will be ok, roll on 6th July and our month in Turkey. 8):D 8):D 8):D

Perhaps its because he does a bloody good job, with little thanks or gratitude and without him, we, the miserable bunch that we are, wouldn't be able to share our passion and thoughts about a place that we all love and share in common. Without his forum we wouldn't have made have the friends that we have....

Duffy - we don't have a Union anymore - it is a myth. There is nothing united about Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England other than none of them can play football like Turkey did in Euro 2008. Personally I am easy about seeing the Turkish flag on this site. It gives it some authenticity. While I am talking about myths it is also a myth that Keith gets little thanks or gratitude for running this site. Many people value it. Far more than knock it. What is true is that a very, very small number of people give him a disproportioante amount of aggro and hassle. Once I was in danger of being one myself but I saw the error of my ways (I hope)!!!
I only make this point in case we talk ourselves into believing the 'natives are rumbling' and give Keith the impression that running CBF is not worth the candle. But I think he knows that his effoerts are valued and apprecaited by most. I hope so.

The Turkish flag didn't bother me at all. I have a Turkish flag on my villa. It never occurred to me that there should be a union flag on this forum. Did anyone else think a Turkish flag was out of place on a forum about an area of Turkey???

After reading Duffy2 posts i can only come to one conclusion he is a very aggressive and fowl mouthed person,it would be far better just to ignore his postings.Thanks for this site Scunner it gives all of us who are genuinely interested about Turkey a lot of help and pleasure.

I find that some people talk with their fist, some with their heart and some with their brain.
The trouble with Duffy is that he thinks he is intelligent (he probably is) but when he posts on here he does not use his brain enough. If he had a concern that that not flying the Union Jack was not patriotic he should have argued it intelligently.

I haven't been on the forum since monday so i read all this with bemusement! I saw nothing wrong in seeing the Turkish flag, as this is a forum about a little resort in Turkey( correct me if i'm wrong), that we all love! Also alot of members live in different parts of the world so the Union Jack wouldn't have been appropriate. I love the new banner took a few seconds tho' Duh! :-\

It is horrid. Hate it. The first time I clicked on I thought "OK, that is mildly humorous" (I am a man generous with my praise). But every time I click for a new thread the damned thing comes up again. It hurts my eyes. I am going to have to put one of those yellow Post-it thingies on my computer screen to cover it up. I bet new members joining up are well down just because of it. If not, do we really want the new members joining up because of it?
Please, Scunner, change it to something less offensive at your earliest convenience. (Perhaps a biscuit advert. Oh no, that was the thing attacked before the flag wasn't it).
