Title: Birthday Cake Blues
Post by: Jacqueline on September 25, 2008, 11:58:07 AM
I would like to warn anyone thinking of buying a birthday cake from Pastries and pies. I was very dissappointed when I collected my cake as it looked as if it had been made by a 5 year old, but decided to give it the benefit of the doubt, thinking the taste would be ok, but found it to be totally inedible! and then to add insult to injury my daughter phoned the shop only to have the phone slammed down on her. I feel I was robbed of 30ytl when the whole cake ended up in the bin.

I'd hardly call Jaqueline a New Member.

According to her profile, she's been registered on here since January 2007. She just hasn't had much to say !

Sultans is probably one of the best places for cakes. Always get birthday cakes from here and this year they made a fantastic Spiderman ckes for my 5 year olds birthday.... he didn't want to cut into it!

I think you could have had reason to complain if it was a pie or indeed a pastry, they never claimed to be a cake shop :D

We bought a fabulous birthday cake for our son along the Gunlukbasi road (can't remember the name of the shop, but opposite where Ayse's cakes was, and down a bit!!) made to order, complete with "silly" topping, made of chocolate and banana (his girlfriends wishes!) and cost us 17 lira.   This included candles, sparklers etc and was enough to feed 7 of us (two pieces each!!) and numerous others who were in Aydin Pide at the time!!  :D

I would also like to add that the lady in Pies and Pastries is really nice (hubby had a meal there which he thoroughly enjoyed, though the rest of us weren't hungry, so just had a drink and a chat with the woman who owned the place.   :)

She was extremely generous to previous customers, giving jars of home made jams/pickles etc for them to try.  These were people who highly recommended her cakes, pastries etc though we were about to go home so didn't try any ourselves.   :-\
