I agree - I can manage a Burger King but don't like Macs much.
Having said that I just put 6Lbs on after 2 weeks in North America so beware ;)
-
I am a fast food slapper. I like both McDonalds and Burger King. 99% of the time that we eat out, we eat Turkish or not overtly English. But I feel we need privacy booths when eating English/ American grub, incase people assume we are sad ex-pats who ONLY eat that way. LOL!

i wonder what the price's will be ?

The price of a "Chew & Spew" in Fethiye should be the same as they are in Marmaris.

About time the town was up to date with the rest of the world, I hope they build a mac D near to it as i can then at least alternate my food. :D
-
Do you know if they will build a KFC as that would complete my weekly diet and means that I wouldn't have to put up with all that Turkish stuff. ;)

couldn't care less- I will still avoid it just like the UK. Given the choice of a burger or a kebab for fast food I know which I will choose.
-
There are more Turkish kebab shops in Germany than McDonalds and Burger Kings combined. Just thought you might like to know that :D

Exactly GB!
It really makes me laugh when people get all sniffy about them. There are worse things happening around the world without worrying about a bloody takeaway opening!
If you dont like them, dont go in and order one, I dont. No one is forced to eat one?

JB I know what you are saying and the truth is that it's one of my kids that likes them, not so much me anymore but how many people make judgement on certain takeaway's etc and sit there smoking and drinking a beer whilst doing so?
That guy that changes your cash on the front is more harmful to your health or his as he tried to take me for 5 lira? GIT!

We have six kebab shops in Perth and only one Mcdonalds.
How will McD get round using pig fat for their ice cream in Turkey?
-
Was over for Bayern v Aberdeen earlier on in the year and was living in a hotel in the Turkish part of the city and yip scunner your right kebab shop on every corner, dont know a lot of turkish but what i did know i used and the turks were looking amused and asking where did you learn that and i explained about Fethiye/Calis so after that friends for life.

I'm not that worried.:D:D ;)

Just walked past it and not totally convinced that it will be a Burger King as the inside of the building has been painted green - not their colours. Could it just be that this tarpauline came from another site? Anyone know for sure?
-
it will be burger king
-
Any chance of moving it to Hisaranu (we dont go there)or failing that spread the good news how wonderful it would go down in MARMARIS along with Macs and KFC. ;)
-
There's been a Burger King in Marmaris for years :)
-
We have two Turkish Restaurants in Nottingham (and a Burger King)!!(OMG)
-
There are two Burgerkings and two McDonalds in Marmaris, they must have had Fethiye's share, which is now being put right.:D ;)
There has been a McDonald's in Bodrum for at least 8 years.
Baz 8)
-
Ah, but neither has a Hamburger 24 like us ;)
-
never understood why it's called a hamburger when no ham is in it.
-
There's no meat in it at Hamburger 24
-
There was in a hamburger we had in Crete, regular type burger with a slice of ham, was not that good, the Greeks doing a literal translation.
Baz 8)
-
Don't order the sweet and sour pork balls in Crete then [:o]
-
:DIts bound to be cheaper than Dalaman, so alot of folk will be going there on the way home,it will save them paying Dalaman prices.
Then again they were all doing a roaring trade when we came back on Monday.
Funny we have often pondered when this would happen, but sort of half hoped it would'nt, but then we hoped Calis would never change too.[^]
-
Is it my imagination or did the work on the new Burger King premises stop after two days never to be resumed?
-

It's called a hamburger after the place it was invented Hamburg.

I bet they can't wait to have a Burgerking in Uzumlu, just to bring them into the 21st century:D:D ;)
Baz 8)

Baz, B****r off, this thread has nothing to do with Uzumlu. Stop trying to create problems where none exist, its getting BORING
-
But it is to do with Burger King:D

As a big McDonalds fan, it is good news. Sadly, it won't be as good as Tatlitest was though :(
-
Baz, its not funny any more. You think it is funny to throw Uzumlu into any topic that is posted, relevant or not. Please move on, you had your fun, some time back, baiting certain people in Uzumlu. A joke is funny for a certain length of time after that it gets boring firstly, then annoying and finally insulting. Yours is moving from the second stage to the third quite rapidly.
-
Why single me out, I'm not the only one. I don't see where I have insulted anyone, I have not attacked anyone personally, like you are attacking me. I wrote in jest, lets be clear about that. If people have no sense of humour, it's their problem not mine.

I am not making a personal attack on you Baz, I would never do that. Just pointing out that this thread had nothing to do with Uzumlu, yet you slanted it that way, yet again. You have done this (and Tinx, but he has now stopped:D) on several posts unrelated to Uzumlu. We are getting tired of it and bored with it.
All I am asking is; stop trying to bait Uzumlu residents and keep on topic:D
Scunner, mines the pink one.... cancel that, Fi says I suit the leopard print one better grrrrrrrrrrr:D
-
if you don't want people to bait you, stop biting. ;)
-
More trouble ahead, I believe they've both chosen the same handbag :D
-
Right thats it, I'm off!
:D ;)
-
Not biting, just fed up. Truce[?] ;)
-
I like the other handbags if there up for grabs x
-
Not till the men have finished with them ;)
-
it is on four floors and nearly finished also has terrace overlooking the harbour, better views than croydon high street.
-
I heard it was opening on Thursday x
-
Judging by some of my turkish friends facebook status's - theyre very impressed with the arrival of Burger King!
-
:) Not the only ones Jen, whats the bet our Dee will have us in there on our first day. ;)
-
:D Oh and ps, all them bags a jarg, ;)
-
hope the prices are not the same as dalaman airport
-
My daughter spoke to the people working there and they have said they are hoping to be open for the weekend! Yum

Two tourists were driving through Turkey. As they were approaching Fethiye, they started arguing about the pronunciation of the town's name. They argued back and forth until they stopped for lunch.
As they stood at the counter, one tourist asked the employee," Before we order, could you please settle an argument for us? Would you please pronounce where we are:very slowly?"
The employee leaned over the counter and said, "Burrrrrr gerrrrrr Kiiiing."
:D

good weather and a good laugh, thanks tink (for the joke not the weather keith)[:D:D 8)

Hi everyone
We went into the newly opened Burger King this morning. It was packed with locals and expats. For us (an English/Turkish couple with a 4 year old) it could not have been more perfect. I miss the whoppers!!, my husband was very excited about it's arrival, as are many locals from the looks of things, and as a guest in this country I have no right to say anything against that. But really the icing on the cake for us was the soft play area on the 1st floor designated for 4-10 year olds. It is only very small but it kept our little one very very happy for a short time. This is something severely lacking in Fethiye/Calis. (If someone can prove me wrong on this I would be eternally grateful!!) The toilets are clean but are on the 3rd floor and in true style there are no lifts/disabled access. There is a lovely open air terrace which might be for smoking, the rest of the restaurant is thankfully for me no smoking!!! The service was slow and the queueing system non-existent but who cares, I will eat one hundred of the 1TL ice creams just to sit and watch my little girl play in the soft play area!!!Hope this helps
-
thanks for the post pixie, sounds like it's a hit with the locals
-
Will have to try this out next week. Sounds great and i'm sure my boy will love it as well. His 1st burger meal.
-
Loving the joke Tink!! :D
-
Turks have a different mentality. They see ****e like Burger King as being a sign of a developed country which is understandable given that most of them come from backward places with nothing.
-
THAT is bl**dy insulting to a great many Turkish people:-\
-
I completely agree with you Tribalelder.... how rude to make such a comment. I take it Toasty that you don't live in Turkey then??
-
Agreed, a nasty, racist generalised post. Gets you one of these Mr Mark O'Brien

:)anyway, went in there last week, bumped into Diverbaz, the food was ok, bit slow on the ordering, but if your going in with children be careful, there were some bigger kids in the play area when we were there and it got a bit boisterous, so no good for the little ones.
-
baz you have been told before, keep out of the kids area :)

I couldn't get on CBF so I had to play somewhere.:D

-
The crispy chicken is gorgeous yum yum!!
-
I just hope that this is not the thin end of the wedge and we see a growth in trashy americana fast food outlets, the turks already do fast food well in my view already.
-
Me too Charles, Fethiye/Calis is really the last place I wanted to see a Burger King or a Maccys, not that I don't indulge here on the odd occasion but in Turkey I like to eat Turkish food as much as possible....its a shame
-
june if you like to eat them on the odd occasion in the UK, why do you begrudge Turkish people having the opportunity to eat them "on the odd occasion".
Mark
-
i agree with km, the number of turkish peole and school kids i seen coming and going from the BK last week, they are enjoying the different type of food available
-
Sorry do not get the arguments against. What does it matter if there is a Burger King/Mcdonalds/Starbucks etc...you do not have to go!! Personally we are looking forward to a good burger or milkshake but only when we fancy it. To our knowledge, this is how most people here think.
-
Mark, I don't begrudge the turkish people anything at all you are missing my point, but when all the big boys get in here as it seems they will now, what happens to the smaller turkish food places that can't survive because of them??!!..
We love Fethiye/Calis and bought there because it was not like the Spains, Cyprus etc with commercial burger places all over.....I guess nothing lasts forever........I just think it spoils the place as as Charles has said there are turkish places that serve really good burgers/fast food etc if thats what you want, I am not arguing just saying how I feel.
June
-
What people have got to remember that Fethiye is a working town and most towns back home have some kind of fastfood outlets whether its BK,McDs or KFC,the people who live there are entitled to a choice as well as the rest of us, there are plenty of places in Fethiye that you can get traditional food if that is what you like, personally i dont eat in these places at home and wont eat in them in Fethiye but the choice is there if you want it,give me turkish food all the time, i like the turkish fast food, a half loaf with chicken kebab meat.

Have you considered that maybe in the eyes of the local populace,
the place began to get spoiled when foreigners were allowed to purchase homes there?

I Think its called Progress wether you like it or not i think there will be more kebap Houses in the uk than fish and chips shops There is 10 in my old home town

Would really love to know where these Turkish places serve up really good burgers are. We've not come across any however we would love to as we don't eat burgers very often so it would be good to get a goon un!
Jan
-
I think its good to have a mix of food places available. I am totally sure that Burger King, and even if MacDonalds come too, that they will cause very little, if any, problems for the smaller Turkish takeouts-such as the Doners etc. I say this because, although my Turkish hubbie will eat at Burger King and MacDonalds on rare occcasions he only does it for me, and would rather have a home cooked turkish meal or Doner kebap anyday. His Mum and Dad would try it, but only the once, and the same rule applies for the rest of his family. Turkish people love their traditional meals, and home cooked delights. I reakon the milkshakes and ice creams will be hit with the youngsters though-my apsolute favourites.
-
Bit behind guys, but where abouts is BK in Fethiye? and are the prices the same as at Dalaman airport? Just want to let my friend know who is in Hisaronu as they seem to travel to Marmaris once a month to get a BK/Maccy D's and dont think they know about Fethiye. Thanks
-
Almost opposite Carrefour.
Nowhere near as expensive as at Dalaman.

'Progress' is a matter of opinion. There are places in this world that 'Progress' has trashed (in my opinion). As a prime example, the Costa Del Sol. I am sure a lot of people love it there, but it became a place I would prefer not to visit, a long time ago. I hope that sort of 'Progress' doesn't happen here. 'Progress' is something that can be mishandled.
But as I said, it's a matter of opinion.

Nobody said you had to agree with it. Change always has those who like it and those that don't. I don't really think it's our place to decide what the Turkish people should eat or not eat.
I've seen many things in this country that go under the name of progress but sometimes I wonder if it's worth it in the end.
