Hi, my name is Allan.
I live in Poole, Dorset and spend 6 weeks (more if I can) a year in Turkey.
I purchased land in Gocek in 2002 and then built a villa which was completed in 2006.
It was a very interesting time, being ripped by the first builder, ended up in a court case which we won last month. We were awarded £28,000 but the guy has done a runner as he had a foreign wife. The second builder completed the villa but tried to claim extra monies which in the end he conceded. I am sure this is not a unique story and I view it has an experience and I would do again but slightly differently and yes it was totally worth it. There were lots of other experiences on the way.............
I have also done business with the Turks, importing new boats into the UK which went very well until they starting playing up with monies, deliveries and wanting massive deposits up front for customers boats before they would start to build them..........many dealers never saw their customers monies again (or the boats).
I love Turkey and (most) of the people....
I look forward to being a member and contributing in this forum.

Such a pity your experiences of Turkey are not all good but as you say there are many stories of the same ilk.
Gocek is such a lovely place, it's no surprise you love it there
