Laffa using a UK dongle is a fortune, you can get one from the vodafone shop in fethiye sort of pay as you go,

I would agree with above though, suppose that wont help from home though

i can give you an answer to that as have been looking into the subject with a view to scrapping our land line as i think its the future.
from the vodaphone shop fethiye ; dongle..usb stick 139tl...sim card 6 tl...300 units 54 tl....450units 76tl
300units=1GB      450units=3GB     i have still to work out how much internet time that will give me, also ttnet etc do similar deals.
am still researching.!!

If you do not use all the units do they carry on to next month presuming the charge you quote is monthly.

kevin i think its pay as you go, not monthly...the way am looking at costing is that landline rental per month is about 30 tl plus adsl comes to about 60 tl before you start.! so 70tl as you say jack is not bad, but i still need more info...

Problem with Telecom is that they don't want to do it for a yabangi so you need a Turkish friend to use their sddress. Does Vodophone need this ??

Stuart
Did you find out anymore. This could be great for our complex as we can't get a phone line in. So we would be interested in the dongle, mainly to get in contact with the site manager by email (as she is on site most of the time) and use a Sype phone.
So 76 lira per months for 3GB should do it with a one off fee of 145 lira sounds good.
Does that sound like that would work.
Can the Dongle be shared with other computers?
Where do I go to get one?
Regards
Lorraine

lorraine. sorry have been busy with other things at the moment. however as soon as i get any more info will let you know. hopefully some others will add some useful comments.
ps. the way i understood it was that the 3gb was not monthly but finished when you used it up. as in counters in a mobile phone.
the dongle is plugged into your computor with a usb connection.maybe one of the computor wizz kids in here could answer if you could share this and how.

:)We use a dongle, and Kenny reckons you can use it in other pc's dont take that as gospel cos we've never tried, but I cant see why not, we've never took it abroad though, believe its really expensive to do so.[^]

The t-mobile one i use in England is my eldest sons, he got it so i could use it while i was in hospital, i also used it after i was in my flat with my youngest son, who has also used it, so, yes, it can be used by different people, but that is the one in England, don't know about in Turkey. Alan

we brought a dongle over last year a virgin one it was a waste of time and so expensive ,you plug into your computer, and you have so much user time if you go over this it's extortionate we signed up for 2year contract just so we could use it in turkey because of my husband buisness as soon as the contracts up we wont renew .i think we pay 14pounds a month but never use it!i think the problem is the reception and to download e-mails takes forever ,we ended up just turning it off! hope that helps a bit

If you are on a monthly contract with Vodaphone for a dongle in the UK you can pay £9.99 for 24 hours of download/network use in Turkey (max 50 mb of data) £8 per mg thereafter.  Coverage is not brilliant, it uses a different protocol to mobile phone calls (Voice - GPS Data - GPRS) (won't go into the tech detail on here too long winded!).

My advice would be DON'T use a UK dongle in Turkey, very easy to use up the data allowance and run into excess usage charges and at £8 per meg it soon adds up.

My advice to your daughter if she is only going to be there short term would be, either try and connect to a nearby wirless network that has not been secured or use any of the bars/cafe's etc. that have free wireless access. Good value for the price of a cuppa or glass of vino.
