Title: Council Tax due
Post by: Steve B on March 17, 2009, 14:02:54 PM
I've probably asked this before but when is the council tax due on properties in Calis/Fethiye? I'm thinking it's April.

Cheers  :)

If it is the same one as we use in Fethiye as you face Carrefour supermarket in Fethiye there is a staircase at the right hand side of the supermarket, we just went upstairs to a guy sat on the left and he took our money.

The amount that you pay varies on the area that you live. If your property is registered with the council office then you will have a 5 digit number (sicil no), and this can be used to ask at the office to see how much you need to pay. I noticed an increase of up to about 4 lira on some properties. A rough estimate for a 2 bedroom apartment could be anywhere from 50 - 80 lira as it mostly depends on the area.

Hi Frank, the council tax is for 1 year. If you do not pay then you are subject to a fine. I don't know the exact start and cut off dates but presume that you can pay from the beginning of the year (January) through to approx July without a fine. I will find out the dates and post back.

As promised I have found out the first and last payment dates for the council tax. January till the end of May each year. If you pay after that time you will be subject to a fine.

just  a small addition to the times of council tax payments! It can be paid in two instalments like car tax.Ist 6months it has to be paid by May,the second by end November.Or pay the whole amount by May

It can be paid in two installments, bu this hardly ever happens. When you go in to pay they automatically give you the price due for the whole year.

Help! My partner and I have an apartment in Deliktas (near the Green Valley complex), we have owned for about 3 years and have not paid Council Tax. What documents are required in order to pay this and does anyone know what happens to all those that don't pay?! There must be others out there in the same position, are we all going to end up in the Fethiye jail?!!

You can check if your property has been registered by taking a copy of your title deed along to the Belediye office at the side of Carrefour. Through the metal detector and the first desk on the left 'Emlak Vergisi'. They will check your details and if you have been registered they will be able to tell you how much you owe and they can give you your council tax number 'sicil no'. Normally the builders register the properties after building completion. Don't worry if you haven't paid for 3 years there is no conviction... just the fine.

Moggy - for Koca Calis you need to go into Ciftlk as it is a different council to Calis.

If you go to the top of the main road through Koca (the one that runs from the beach past the pink hotel) and across the roundabout you can walk into Ciflik. The council offices are in the centre of the village opposite the market area.

Many thanks stoop, saved us a lot of messing about, the simplest of things turn into major problems,it must be the heat. I know there's a new bus service up to Ciftlik so we can get that sorted out next time we're over,if it's still running, cheers.

I paid mine for the first time last year, I took my tapu and passport. I needed to get a copy of the Tapu and passport and also needed the full address. It was hilarious, I took several trips out to the Fotokopi shop opposite, everytime I went back I needed something else. I think they were having a chuckle with me.

I've just paid mine and including the fine for being late it was 30TL.
I'm considering an appeal.
