Title: tv adverts
Post by: ted molloy on March 28, 2009, 11:49:55 AM
How many times have you settled down to a cosy evenings viewing only to be bombarded by loads of bloody stupid awful tv ads?.
do the media marketing buffs really think we are interested in wiping baby's arses or how to get rid of an itchy crotch, repair facial wrinkles,or how to prevent blackheads, also the choice of toilet paper, women's things with wings(only if your pee is the color blue), pregnancy test kits two for the price of one!!!. The list is endless it's no wonder i have given up watching tv and prefer to go down to the pub.

What about that horrible spottyfaced little git in the Kingsmill bread ad ,if that was any child of mine i would see him off to school with all that toast stuck where the sun don't shine.
Also have the makers of all this anti wrinkle stuff ever heard of Polyfiller ,and did Jasmine Harman (a place in the sun home and away)ever audition for Jaws with teeth like that ?,I have often wondered if they call Chris Tarrant "hissing Sid" ;)

The adverts that get up my hairy nostrils are the ones promoting all the
useless crap that women chuck on their faces in the mistaken belief that it turns them back into princesses :),the product normally has a highly scientific sounding formulae, tested on 219 women, who probably works for the firm producing the muck.
Its been proven that none of these products work, keep your money in your purse ladies and accept old age gracefully. :).

Actually, after reading this thread its quite apparent the adverts do cause a great deal of stress and frustration,so I might patent something I've been working on for a while.
Basically its a bit of kit that goes in a scart connector on the back of your tv and detects the start of the adverts and cuts them out,you then have the option, via the programmable hard drive on the AD {advert detector},of watching something decent for 2 or 3 mins,eg,Kim Bassinger doing her yoga exercises,to a tasteful music track.
Obviously you can record any clips you want,Leeds trying to play football, east enders:(,etc.
If any members wish to invest in this money making venture please send me your bank account no and the amount you wish to invest,no time wasters please.

I can't stand that Vauxhall advert with the American car salesman talking American babble. How that will make people want to buy an Astra is beyond me.

The one on Scottish telly for the care commission agh... It has worked though;just about everyone I know is talking about it, and not loving it!! However there is the fab one of the small boy asking his dad where he came from, dad goes into a full blown descriptive analogy relating to the birds and the bees ,only to be told his pal comes from Scotland! I think they are selling cars though. brill!!

I had to do a search for this topic so I could tell you that I can't stomach that advert where the woman shaves all the hard skin off her feet with a cheese grater looking implement.

The opens the container and pours all the shavings out. I am disgusted.

We where in Hisonaru and walking past a Beauty Salon.  There were women sitting outside having their nails done one lady was having a pedicure.  The beauty therapist was using such a tool to saw away at the bottom of this lady's heel, but the tool had no compartment to catch the skin and there was a whole cloud of what we thought was talcum powder until we got closer  ugh!!! it was revolting.

I'll second that one...I want to hit that woman. At least British ads seem to have a bit of thought behind them. Most of them here are just plain mad.

Anyone seen the Sedar soft furnishing ads on, I think, Fox channels (nilesat)?  The dialogue is just cringe-making and the woman is as animated as a praying mantis.  The guarantees are 100% genuine!! Just awful.  Bless her!
