Has anyone been to this place.....can you get a dolmus or has it got to be taxi
Do they mind you going and spending a few hours there in the pool, then having a meal and a drink

Its a lovely location with fantastic views. They are more than happy to let people use the swimming pool etc - even if you just buy drinks. We were looking for a while after Jinky recommended to us - but directions are: when travelling by Dolmus jump off at the traffic lights in Tasyaka where it meets the road heading up the steep hill towards Ovacik. Cross the road and follow the road opposite up the hill. It winds round to the left but if you follow this for about 10-15min walk you come to The Sundial. If in blazing summer heat - recommend a taxi!

its gorgeous.Enjoy.x

We'd love to go there but can't find it. HELP!
I have looked on Google Earth and wonder if it is 360Sk or 373Sk/379Sk. That area is dated 2004, I can't spot the sundial and wonder if it wasn't there then. [8)]

TAXI for rindaloo
;)
-
356 sk is the address
on google earth
-
*sigh* I can't find it! This is really getting on my wick now. I can find 351Sk and 358Sk. Ah well, I assume its in that region. Ig you could give me the Long and Lat, maybe that would make it foolproof. As it seems I need them, LOL!!
-
Hang on, I have found 356 and it is right by Baha Sikman Cd, no high views there I'd have thought. Are you sure it's not 365??
-
just left of 360 sokak with picture markers
-
Hmm, it depends on what options you have activated on Google earth. I dont have many activated and the only 360 I see is right AT the traffic light junction. And if you go up there you get to 365. However 356 is a little back turning close to Baba Sikman Cd. So I am still confused. Sorry. :-\
356 is a short dead ender running off 341. Is that what you see on Google earth too??
-
if you find 333 sokak its just above it
-
ROFL, this is like The Golden Shot! Thanks for your help Kanga. I will have another look tomorrow. Maybe it will all become clear then. Night-night!
-
Try this fool proof guide. At the previously mentioned traffic lights at the top of Tasyaka the road goes up the hill to Ovacik. to the left the road goes down to Patlangic and the Saturday Market. Behind you is a little cafe in a shed and a Trampoline area. Look across to the far side of the junction and you will see a narrow road that goes between a stone clad apartment on the left and an empty shop on the right. Take this road which gradually gets steeper with a stone wall on your left, after about 250 metres you arrive at what looks like a T junction, very steep at this point. Bear left here and proceed straight ahead.
If you look up after about 30 metres you will see a mosque on your right with the washing area underneath at road level. Continue ahead and do not turn right. At this point it looks as though you are entering someones yard area between two houses....you are not continue straight ahead ( VERY Slowly) and you will see the view of Fethiye ahead of you and a very narrow entrance on your right. You have to enter here or go back as the road ends. That is the Sundial and the small car Park is on your rightas you enter.
Some times you will have to explain how to get there to a Taxi driver as they don't all know! :)
-
Thanks tribal - we are looking for a nice restaraunt to go to for my sons birthday and as this is just up the road from us but we have never ventured I think we will give it a try.
-
If you go in the evening make sure you arrive before sunset and then as the sun goes down the lights of nearly all of Fethiye slowly twinkle into life and in the distance those of Calis......see that and you will know why you came here.....not to be missed. :)
-
LOL RINDI !! We've been looking for three years, on each and every trip and never found it !!!! We now have three sets of directions and each set appears to tackle it from a different angle. So we also will be going by taxi !!!!
-
LOL, yes, it's like doing a puzzle! As for 333Sk, I have looked till my eyes were watering, and I can't spot it oh Google Earth, sorry Kanga. Closest I could get was 336Sk and that really doesnt look like an area with 'views' as it's too low down.
We were in the area last year and drove up two of the turnings, turning back as the track got steeper and more unlikely looking. I think we will have to have another go, or ask "Sherper Tribalelder" to be our guide!
-
great place to be of a evening
take a taxi then you will know where it is for future visits
-
It's on 365 Sokak !
The turning at the traffic lights is 360 Sokak and you go along that road and then turn onto 365 Sokak.
-
make sure you find it,it's worth every wrong turn.Might see you there Abby!.x
-
Thank you that man (KKOB)!!! That's what I was thinking last night!!! Good-o at least I know where it is and don't need to park the car and take a taxi the rest of the way ROFL!!!!!
-
Small (Sorry) Large supply of Efes will ensure my undivided Sherpa skills at short notice:D 8)
-
If you,re thinking of going at the weekend, always best to book as gets very busy, phone number 611 1352 or 1419
-
Do you 'work' at short notice? I am thinking, IF I get lost again, I might have to make an emergency call... Will have Efes in car :D
-
No problem.......but I am sure even a blind Boy Scout could follow my directions:D
-
So, I had better not admit it if I can't find it, LOL!!
-
For a lady in distress........I will be prepared Dob dob dob:D
-
Call me ungrateful, but if you Dob dob dob in front of me, I'll thump you.
-
Do Our Best :)?
-
Even worse......... 8)
-
For offering to help in a light hearted fashion and continuing the theme of Boy Scouts by quoting the motto albeit from many years ago I get threatened with a thumping and then when querying with a smile I then get a suggestion of a black eye. So yes I can only assume you are ungrateful.
-
Sorreeeeee

Accepted.... Thank you. If it was something I said which you were not happy with please email me via my profile as the Forum is not the place :)
-

Hi , what type of food do they serve.Bee
-
We went on Thursday evening the food was lovely I had Lamb shank, so tasty, and Nick had steak which he said was also delicious. really chilled out, fab view, great food.
-
someone mentioned that you need to ring to book, if Im ringing from a phone box what is the full number.Bee
-
a party of us went to the Sundial and had a very nice afternoon, the evening meal however left a lot to be desired. We had Spring roll to start with, these were edible & 7TL per portion, you can get a lot better Spring Rolls at various Calis eateries for 4-5TL. The main courses were:
Steak & Cheese (well done) wanted rice but didn't get it, said no veg but got some, mistakes happen
Mixed Grill 1 small piece of chick breast, 1 chewy lamb chop, 1 kofte, 1 small piece of steak & normal chips etc. This was 24TL in this instance a disgusting case of Rip Off. The few chips were very tasty.
Steak & Onions (Med to rare)came out well done but tender
Fillet steak (rare)came out well done but again tender but not what was asked for.
My oppinion is that on ascale of 1 to 10 in comparison with other local restaurants i would be generous in giving it 4.
i am not knocking the place just telling people how it was for us. This will not deter us from going again, because it is a nice place & decent people but there is no way i will be eating there again, i said this last year also. My assumption is that they are catering for the tourists 100% and the quantity + quality = that assumption.
i do however recommend it on all other points
-
They are certainly not there for mass tourism, how many of you that don,t live here actually knew about or where it was until it was posted here. I,m going again tonight with friends, you go for the ambience, sunset, music etc, unless you go for the whole day. It,s a breathtaking place, completely unique and actually I,ve never had a bad meal there, and I,m quite fussy. I take all friends over here for a holiday here and no one has a bad thing to say about it. Also another nice thing about it is they never want you to eat up as quickly as possible to the tables free for more people
-
Totally agree with you Sarah, I love it there it is one of my favourite places in Turkey.
Do they still pick you up from Calis do you know, I really wanted to go up there when we were out this month, but someone said they do not pick up anymore, I was not confident enough to try and get there on a dolmus!
-
Hi all
Is it expensive to eat or drink at the Sundial
Noreen
-
Yes they do Karennina, however i don't know how far they will travel. They are prompt for picking you up.
-
It is expensive (in comparison to eating out in Turkey but not the UK), but we went on a special night and we were very happy to pay the increased prices. Lovely
-
we went twice during our last visit and it was all lovely, and included a pick up service.
-
I.M.H.O. a great place, we went there at the end of May this year intending to have a swim & stay for lunch, we loved it that much that we stayed on for dinner as well. The food was perfect and the ambience was mind blowing. Muratt was a great host and even brought us back to Calis at the end of the night. We are going back there next month and plan to stay over night.
-
lucky you,it looks lovely.we only live 5 mins away so i can't try that one.ha ha
-
My son and I ate there last night, and had a wonderful meal. Both steaks pervfect, son, teetotalar had 3 cokes, me 2 beers plus water 66tl, not expensive for nearly 4 hours sitting , drinking in the atmosphere etc. Then Murat asked us to have a drink on him, so we sat at the bar for another half hour. Wonderful relaxing night. We decided as Monday is Sam,s day off to go next week for the day and lunch, really looking forward to it.
