I'm getting heartily sick of the rash of TV adverts telling the world that their product is "ideal for fathers' day". The latest being the Greatest Hits of Black Sabbath; my father is 85 & that's one of the last things he would consider ideal. This is a man, that in the 60's, thought the Beatles were "a racket" :o
So what would be an ideal pressie for my Dad? I need help & fast

Take him for lunch and spend time with him I am sure any present would take second place to your company :)

A nice pen for doing the crosswords with.
Liquorice Allsorts.
A good magnifying glass.
A nice picture frame with a family picture in.
Or perhaps a nice meal out?

A Max Bygrave sing-song cd and a bag of soft sweets??
No,seriously.I agree with Heather.Spend lots of time with him,
ask him about "the old days",then just listen.Priceless.

Or
Spend lots of time with him,
ask him about "the old days",then just DON'T listen. He won't even realise. Priceless.

I went to see him earlier this week (taking a bag of liquorice allsorts) & offered to take him out for lunch, to be told he had a nice piece of fish in the fridge, so why would he want to go out! After a couple of hours he said "it's about time you bu**ered off home now"

Kevin, having lost my mother nearly 30 years ago, I can well understand those sentiments
