I can't wait for our holiday. We normally book our hols about a week before we go - this year we booked in March so it's been a long wait!
We discovered Calis quite randomly last year, and went back in October, taking my parents with us. They also fell in love with the place so we're all coming back out for a fortnight in 10 days time!

I'm going 17th July. Anyone heard of Atlas villas ? 6 villas with own pools, the address I have is 2 Atlas Villa, Foca Mah, Ibrahim Gul Cad, Mezarlik Calis 48300, Turkey. Anyone any ideas how far from town centre etc ?
-
I'm not excited either. :( Feel quite depressed in fact. :o It's ages till we're back - well, 39 more sleeps! Actually, it doesn't sound so long after all - yippeeeee 8)
-
Atlas Villas is opposite me. Its about a 10/15 min walk to the beach. Two min walk to the main road and you can get a dolmus.

Onur Air Sunday from Birmingham 8)

Jackie : us too ! we'll see you there ! I'll be the one trying to close the bulging suitcases from popping open and spilling a million pairs of shoes, hair straighteners, undies and other teenage accessories across the concourse ! (Closely followed by two teenage girls, weighed down with duty free chocolate) !
-
Thanks busybee. First time in Calis, so any tips would be greatly appreciated ( supermarkets / restaurants / bars etc ). It is my teenage daughters birthday whilst we there, can you recommend a nice restaurant for a special occassion ? Do you know how to find the villa on google earth, would like to see the location.
-
We are taking our three year old grandaughter, so I will be the one running around Birmingham airport like a headless chicken chasing a ver exicited three year old. So see you their. 8)

I also picked out Calis - quite randomly, but it is turning out to be a good choice from all the reading which I have done over the last 8/9 months. Booked my holiday around September 08' and am soooo looking forward to it. This website has helped 10-fold. Bring on August 10th - I will be there... & I truly hope that this is a place which I will return to over the coming years!!
Oh yeah... you do the math on the amount of sleeps I have to endure!!!
-
Semi, we also picked out Calis very randomly, even without the help of this forum. We had stayed in Kalkan the previous year in a villa owned by a bloke we bought my car off ("You buy my car, you can have my villa in Turkey for a week ......" etc etc). :D
Kalkan was fabulous but very hilly so we looked to take the kids to Turkey the following year, but slightly nearer the airport and somewhere a bit flatter. Thought we were staying in Fethiye, but it turned out to be Calis. :)
On the last day of our holiday, we put a deposit down on an apartment. That was two years ago. Still counting sleeps till the next time, every time we come home ............. :D
You'll love it. By the way, start saving for the deposit! :o :-\ :) :)

Here is a quote from a food and drink website that should explain for you.
Pide is a staple Turkish food and you'll find it all over the country. In touristy areas it's advertised as Turkish Pizza but that doesn't really do it justice. Pide is a long thin banana shaped bread, rolled with some skill from a small ball of dough. The bread is then covered with the topping of your choice and slammed into a large, solid fuel burning oven for about 10 minutes. The resulting pide is sliced up and served piping hot.
Oh and it's pronounced pee-day ;)
