We have had this one before but there are a few new ones now.

Stoop was given to me by some workmates when we were discussing taking the wives to Texas for a cowboy holiday. Someone called me Stoop and it stuck.

Never got to Texas though to try it out on the range :(

Mine comes from my ebay username. When I was registering every combination of username I wanted to use was already taken. In frustration I shortened a nickname that my neighbour had for me - Gorgeous Northern Bird (GNB for short). I must say if I had really thought about it then I would not have used it on the forum, within minutes of posting my forst message in the hello section, Scunner, Crabbit and Tinx were on me like a shot commenting that I seemed low on self esteem!

Hi Jukebox, I am being ironic.  I am now fessing up.  I made a mistake when registering and put in my own name before I realised I could have a user name.... I was a Forum virgin, first site I had ever joined.   I am now more savvy and have a great name elsewhere.  I read that the best way to think up a user name is the way prostitutes get their aliases. Think of the name of your first pet and the name of the first street you lived in, these names always sound trashy.  This will get the other CBF members thinking.

I'm sure you could ask Scunner to change your name now you've got a good one. He could then put 'the artist formerly known as...' under the new one so people wouldnt be confused. :)

Ps, I've done the street name etc before and my name would be .. Alma Garnet! Classic eh?

I also have to confess that I was a forum virgin when I joined in 2004 and would prefer to be known as findik which is the turkish for hazelnut. As I am a bit of a nutcase.

Post by: Toky on July 31, 2009, 23:57:07 PM
My forum name of Toky is pinched from my late father inlaw who was called after a famous footballer. He inherited this nickname as his tyle of football playing was very similar to that of John 'Tokey' Duncan. He was a Scottish football player and manager who started his senior football career with Lochgelly United in the wartime Eastern League during World War I, scoring a hat-trick against Dunfermline Athletic on his debut. After one year he moved on to Raith Rovers before finally arriving at Leicester City. There, he set a Football League record by scoring six goals in a match in 1924. He also won one cap for the Scotland national football team, scoring against Wales in the 1926 British Home Championship.
He was Leicester City manager after World War II to 1949.
His niece married future England manager Don Revie who played under Tokey Duncan at Leicester.

Chinook, CBF was the first forum I joined and I knew little of the usual way of doing this. It is OK if your name is Keith, Dave, or Alan since there are millions of these in the world. However, Colwyn is a relatively rare name so I could easily be identified. So I decided to follow experienced internetters (like Scunner and Crabbit) and hide behind some other username. This didn't work either since when I joined people greeted me with "Hello Colwyn".
