Title: Hisaranu hits new low
Post by: kaptainkrunchie on August 15, 2009, 22:36:40 PM
Just had a night out in Hisaronu and visited a bar on bar street.

Entertained by a young lad about 10 years old who was singing karaoke song about "getting high" and sucking "pu55y"

His mum actually thought this was amusing and applauded when he finished

Anyone want to buy a villa in Hisaronu?????

Oh dear - as a father of 4 children (now aged 26 to 33) that really is diabolical.

I am beginning to think that maybe our leader is right  after all  ;)

We're ok as long as the 'on the floor' package holiday prices to Turkey stay as Hisaronu hotels, which they all are. The karaoke story reminds me of a few years back where you could be enjoying a family meal, only for the music to change to some garbage with a guy singing about bitches and all sorts. Mind you, that was innocent, the staff generally had no idea what the lyrics meant  :)

Using kaptainkrunchies logic, every villa in Calis would be up for sale by now and i'm not trying to make light of current issues.
It's also worth remembering that the sad singing cretin and his excuse of a mother are probably imports from broken Britain.Do we all sell our homes in Britain when this sad duo return from their holiday??They could also have been having a night out from their hotel in Calis.
Just a thought.!!!   :) :)

Ah, I get it your point now Tony

Hisaronu is better than Calis because some poor family got attacked in Calis. Nice one. Let's call that a victory to you.

Sometimes I really struggle to understand the expats community. In the whole of things we are a small group living in the Fethiye area and some of us seem to get off by having a go about where people live. Let us just consider the past week where a family are assaulted in Calis and a man goes missing in Ovacik. We should be showing compassion for fellow humn beings and not using the situation to knock lumps out of each other.

We should all be working together to fight crime. The problems like robbery happen as much in Hisaronu as it does in Calis as it does in Uzumlu. It is about time that we all got a grip of reality and stop this petty bickering and point scoring about one area being better or worse than another area.

I was attempting to defend Hisaronu from its usual tirade of negative views. My point being a the kid and his mother could have sung in any bar. in any resort. It could be said for the unfortunate lady and her family. My apologies firstly to her for being tempted to use the situation in such a way and to the forum for being vile.

Completely agree. We are all adults here are we not?? I believe I have said in the past, why do we not all work together to promote the area as a whole, and come together to sort out problems?

Well said minimoo and Ovacikpeedoff....enoough is enough of this stupid nonsence of calling each area...Calis has its good points, so does Ovacik and so does Olu Deniz and Fethiye...they ALL have there bad points to...but at the end of the day WE SHOULD ALL be promoting the area not pulling it apart and sqabaling like children and trying to score points for YOUR area....rant over[:(!]

Calis, Fethiye, Olu Deniz and Hisaronu all have their problems

It's very true and sad that you can't have a gentle and light hearted debate about where is best without people getting over the top and using unfortunate incidents or anything they can find to slag off the other area. I only ever rib Hisaronu and Ovacik folk for a bit of banter, this topic shows that to be pretty much impossible.

Light hearted banter on the subject of chosen location always ends up sinking to sad depths on here, which is a shame.

Scunner rates Uzumlu as tops!

It happens both ways around though! If someone were to have a lighthearted dig at Calis, some folk would be very unimpressed. We know all of these topics end the same way, so why allow them. Which one is best is a matter of opinion, as we all like different things. I just worry that these "lighthearted digs" maybe, just maybe, would put people off trying the area for a holiday at all.

Do away with the lighthearted banter and we might just as well sell up and retreat to the confines of the P C United Kingdom (if theres any room left!!)

No one wants to do away with banter but like in every country in the world some subjects are taboo and in this area it seems people can take offence when the banter relates to where people live. The title of this subject is very emotive in that Hisaronu reaches a new low gives the impression that it is already a dive.

It also seems that the banter is aimed one way towards Hisaronu. As Minimoo points out maybe if the banter was aimed at Calis or any other area then some people in these areas could be offended.

Making remarks about an area to create banter could be seen as fun if made once but when an area is continuously the butt of the banter it stops being funny and becomes a very different matter.

It wasn't long ago that it was suggested that it was always the same place that this banter was being aimed at. Uzumlu!

I have to agree with Ovacikpeedoff, why single out Hisaronu ?
There are other places just as bad,   Kabul, Baghdad, Tripoli, The Gaza Strip, helmand province........................: :)

Back on topic....I work with teenagers and I never cease to believe how sexualised their conversations are. It's the crudeness of it that is so unacceptable. It does not surprise me either that this mum just sat and listened to him, she was probably quite proud of him. I have heard parents also making disgusting threats to their kids, too graphic to put in print. It's the whole lack of respect for themselves and everyone else in society, that has led to this type of behaviour being the norm these days. (rant over)

I find the title of the thread mildly offensive, but when you consider that the poster went to an establishment where alcohol is combined with the passing around of microphones and found themselves offended by the warbling of a child to the extent that they wished to rush out and sell their villa my feelings mellow into one of sympathy for the mindset of the poster. Why did they buy a villa there in the first place if they think it's that bad??
" Hiroshima" and "Sleazaronu" says much about the posters, and Hisaronu will miss them!!!
The incoming flak from the outlying regions does'nt bother me.As a General in the Hisaronu Defence Corps I have to expect it.After all, everyone aspires to get to the top of the hill! And finally,Crabbit, behave and get back in that bunker!!

  Yours.  :) :)

I am in no way opposed to banter, but my point is, if you were a new member, and considering your first trip to Turkey, what would you make of these kind of comments? Would such topics scare you off from visiting the area? This is my only concern. I have a sense of humour, and enjoy banter as much as the next person, but have always been a firm believer that if you can not say anything nice, do not say anything at all.

I agree that the situation which started the topic was dreadful, but we can not kid ourselves that these sad excuses for parents only holiday in Hisaronu. Maybe the topic title should have read "British parenting hits a new low".

It is interesting that the topic has evolved into "complaints" about Calis people ribbing Hisaronu folk about their choice of base, what with the original poster being a Hisaronu person. I do think it is funny, choosing to live half way up a mountain in the Fethiye equivalent of Magaluf, but if people are happy there then I am genuinely happy for them  :)

It's good to see that every area has had a welcome increase in visitors this year and I'm sure that the local businesses who have had a few lean years are delighted. Good luck to them now that things have picked up a bit.

There is nothing that anyone here can do about which visitors come. As numbers increase so to does the number of people who may have previously have gone to other Euro zone countries and who have a different view of what makes a good holiday.

Fortunately the vast majority of visitors to Hisaronu and all the resorts are just ordinary, nice people who have saved their hard earned pennies to come here for a holiday. Maybe some of them are a bit over the top because they are excited to be here but, Hey Ho! let them get on with it.
If the visitors don't come businesses won't survive and there won't be anywhere for those of us who spend more time here to go for our entertainment.

As previous posters have said, lets all give the area a bit of a positive image and give our Turkish friends a little bit of help with their little businesses by promoting our own areas.

But not at the expense of our neighbours!!

We went to Hisaronu last year and although I know there is some wild stuff going on I didnt partake.  We managed to find nice eating places and small bars without karaoke.  Like Calis it has a mix of places to suit all tastes.

It does have more shops though: :)

There are a few places open during the winter in Hisaronu and it is possible to find something to eat. A couple of the shops are open in the winter. Even though the nights can be cold it is a very pleasant area for walking during the sunny days, providing there is no rain.

Codswallop, Shanghai Blues, Abrakadabra and Four Seasons were open last winter, sometimes only for the long weekend trade.
