Title: changing money in Uzumlu
Post by: sueh2858 on August 17, 2009, 07:36:45 AM
I'm due to visit Uzumlu this week. What facilities are there for changing money? Is it best to bring Lira with me from UK? Is there an ATM?  Not sure, any advice gratefully received.

There are no money changing facilities that I know of (others might) Personaly I change £100 into TL in the UK then take sterling and change up in Calis or Fethiye, you get a better rate, and when you are say changing £1000 it's makes a big difference.

Probably struggle here in Uzumlu , should bring a little out with you then ask around when you get here ,better rates if you change money in Turkey ,  Fethiye not to far away, no ATM in Uzumlu . Plenty of helpful folk out here in Uzumlu to point you in the right direction. Have a good flight and i hope you have a great holiday in our beautiful village. Calvin Ps welcome to the forum

You can change money at the local PTT (post office) and the exchange rate is generally not too bad

Hi thanks very much!  :-)

My friends have arrived today, and we are joining them on Thurs. She nearly fooled me into believing there's an Asda that does cashback in the village!

Mikew be real!

How in the name of God would a wee village the size of Uzumlu be suficient to finance a Mc Donalds!

Not Fethiye, with more than 10 times the population but a wee mountain village!

Some people remeber when Ovacik was'nt even a small village but just fields on the approach to a tiny little hamlet called Hisaronu, complete with 3, or was it 2 bars and a couple of run down hotels.
I recall people then saying "it will never happen" !!
