I have been waiting just over 2 weeks now for a parcel to come. My Dad had to send it parcelforce due to the weight. I have never used them before. Anybody had any dealings with them coming into Turkey-I'm guessing and postie will alert me when it arrives????

I ordered a Sky viewing card which was sent to Turkey using DHL. If anyone is arranging a delivery with DHL, can you ask them where it is, that was nearly 4 years ago :D
-
Thank you Lynne thank you will go check the post office in fethiye tomorrow, and prehaps even customs!
Hope the animals are all well, have you visited the hubbie lately in the turkish delight shop!!

Don't you dare! It's illegal to watch Sky outside the UK lol

Crystalgirl check with your dad if he has a track and trace number you can go on Parcelforce web site and find out how far your parcel has got, if he sent in international registered.

When we moved out here we sent a good few large boxes of assorted bits out to save bringing it with us on the plane. Prices were similar to what excess baggage was. They all arrived no problem but it did take about five to six weeks for some of them. All had been opened and some things were damaged but was still glad we used parcel force instead of lugging it all on the plane. As for tracking the parcels, you can only track them as far as leaving for Istanbul then that's it. It's then down to the Turkish system.

You can track "signed for" parcels Door-To-Door from Turkey to almost anywhere in the world using the PTT's website. Unfortunately the system doesn't seem to work quite so well for imports so you have to be prepared for a bit of leg-work around the various offices.

I used Parcelforce to send over two large boxes last September - 6 days delivery time from depot in Stoke to the PTT in Fethiye. I had to pay 10% tax (of the Insured value - £150)at the Custom Office to get a bit of paper which the PTT needed before releasing the goods. Take a translator to the Customs Office as none of the staff spoke English (at least not when I was there).
I'm now using DHL (for the first time) to send an extra large parcel (2mt long and weighing 25Kg) overland. It leave Stoke next Wednesday - I'll let you know when (if) it arrives!

Sorry CG, I have only just spotted this. Yes we have seen him a few times. But not as much as we used to.
PS, did your parcel show up?

Be careful using Parcelforce there is a list as long as your arm they will not insure, so if anything on their list is damaged or broken they will not pay up. It's always as well to look at the small print of delivery companies just to check what they will cover. As someone with a webshop I have to be careful just what is covered by these companies.
Take a look at the list of things not covered by Parcelforce http://www.parcelforce.com/portal/pw/content1?mediaId=26000667&catId=25900691

Im waiting for a parcel from the usa been waiting for 3 yrs.But i have received a few parcels from the uk. :)

Did you provide a Turkish telephone contact? We found our package had s got as far as Mugla but they would not deliver despite having a full address and post code without calling first. I've since been told that this is standard practice internationally and not a Turkish quirk.

As promised - my DHL parcel arrived in Fethiye on the promised day and that's depite arriving in Istanbul on the same day as the floods. I was watching the news expecting to see it floating down the street!
New nonslip flooring fitted quickly and professionally by a company called Sedir Parke in Fethiye (opposite Bellona if you know where that is). Unlike the fitters in the UK these guys removed everything from the bathroom first (toilet, cistern and vanity unit), fitted, glued and sealed the flooring and then put everyting back. No cutting around the toilet base for these guys. Highly recommended. We are so pleased that we no longer have to do Torvil and Dean impersonations everytime we have a shower!
