my friend was in a car crash this week so will not be joining us on our girlie holiday
i rang easyjet today and asked how much to transfer into someone else's name £160
bloody hell why, i asked the operator, she said £35 for transfer (if i heard right) and the rest was because the flight had gone up well i ranted and raved and asked if the price had gone down would i have had a refund ,no was the reply, it was their policy.
so a warning to anyone who book easyjet and want to transfer to another name they have you by the short and curlies and the cost will go up.avoid at all cost
i will stick with aegean flights from now on,who by the way only charged for the admin when my grandson could not come last year

Appalling:(

:(
Thats disgusting......
I have always flown to dalaman with easyjet and are going to be in 6 weeks time, but the more i read about these the more i dont want to fly with them any more if thats the way they treat there customers...
Call and ask to speak to the manager or someone with more power that an operator on the other end!! if you have a doctors letter clarifying this person is not fit to fly then i would really push them...
Keep trying..

Rip off but I guess it's in the small print. Art least your mate should be able to claim her money back through her holiday insurance - assuming she had some.
-
spoke to a manager after insisting got nowhere
yes my friend has insurance,so will claim
and yes it is in the small print, that is why i am posting to let readers know if they want to transfer a ticket into some elses name they will be expected to pay more then a name change fee
-
I suppose - thinking seriously here - if the price of the flight had gone down then your friend would have simply claimed her FULL refund through the insurance and someone else could have bought another ticket cheaper. Following that through I think it's understandable that if the seat prices have gone up due to demand then they have the right to ask for the difference.
It all boils down to supply and demand in the end but I'm not sure it is good for customer relations.
-
I think most airlines charge the extra if the seat price has changed, It does sound a bit of a jobs worth thing on this occasion though.
-
aegean did not charge extra, last year only charged for name change :)

From Aegean's website:
5. Changes by You: If you wish to change your plans in any way, or change the names on the booking and we can accept the change, a charge of £20.00 per person per amendment will apply provided that your instructions are received in writing within 14 days of departure. We will try to help you but we cannot guarantee that we will always be able to do this as changes are subject to availability at the time. You will also need to pay any difference in the flight price that results from such a requested change.
-
i did not pay extra maybe they forgot their rules :)
-
Or maybe they have changed them? Or maybe the price had not gone up?
-
whatever, whichever :D
aegean were more understanding
-
Whatever, :Dwhoever

There is as much chance of that happening as there is of a foreigner not getting ripped off in Turkey. 8)

Not so sure - I have known flights to go down in the last week due to plenty of seats being left.
Still a rip off from easyjet and it makes me more determined not to use them unless I have to :)
-
Thanks for the tip off Puma, they are way down my list and I would have to be desperate to use them, regardless of rules and regulations and depending on circumstances presented to them I still think that some airlines are just more helpful than others....basically it sometimes seems a few care and the rest just can't be arsed.
