How is the little coffee shop doing near Marias & Irish bar? I think they had just opened when we were there early July - lovely fresh coffee/cappucinos etc. That's something I really missed in Calis - some bars were advertising Nescafe like it was something special! I don't mind it but really love "proper" coffee. Is there anywhere else besides this little coffee shop that use ground coffee and steam/froth the milk? It was as good, if not better than Starbucks and Costa coffee for sure.
-
Best coffee ever was at Cafe Olay in the Fethiye but it closed down...that and the puds were amazing...not sure where is good for a proper coffee any more?
-
The Orient in Calis does really good strong Italian coffee (not frothed) but served with hot milk if you ask George
-
Cafe Oley has re-opened as Blue Cafe. Same coffee and same cakes!
-
Blue Cafe is great..as already said same as when was Cafe Oley except you can get all your jewellery repairs /designs done at the same time too as Selcuk from Infinity now owns it! Such a nice guy..
-
We always think the coffee at Kale Park is really good, the best we have tasted in the area up to now.
Jacqui.

Ah a subject close to my heart- I'm a bit anal over coffee! Was told though didnt try the Orient coffee is Illey and very good. Blue bar in Fethiye excellent as was the little coffee shop on the corner of Megri square- individual cafetieres. Happened to call in Pies and Pastrys in Calis next to Scarletts and had a fab coffee there too- typically on our last day!
-
Thanks for that, will definately try Blue Cafe, I really did miss Cafe Oley when it closed....also I may try the 'pies and pastries' its trying to avoid the P & P that may be a problem!!!...already got Kale Park ear marked to go.... :)
-
Does anyone know what that new coffee shop is called please? (opposite Irish bar/Marias) -
-
I am also one who seeks out coffee of the highest standard, and always ended up at Cafe Oley for the best. Mind you, coffee in 30-40 degree summer temperatures wouldn't be of interest to me at all.
-
Good coffee also to be had at Cafe Cafe in the arcade leading from the fish market towards the Paspatur, ie behind the clothes shop with a dodgy line in currency exchange

Marias do a frothy coffee though not fresh ground, its a good point you raised, I too enjoy my coffee, oh and the Harem have a new coffee machine, worth a try.:P
-
we always get a nice coffee in the tuesday market, from the chap at the bottom end he has a few chairs out
-
I love my caffein fix and the best place is the Orient Express, without doubt. Strong "Illy" coffee - fantastic!!!
-
So have any of you coffee-lovers tried the new coffee place opposite Maria's? just wondering how they are doing as they told us they had recently opened when we we there in early July - great for a caffeine fix before the dolmus home.
-
the worst coffee must be the latoon bar on calis front
-
There's at least ten on Calis seafront using the same recipe phil, unfair to single out Letoon lol
-
I agree, though i'm not naming the worse coffee's we'd be here all night.just lets find the good ones.:P
-
You should try the iced coffee in the Letoon. Its Magic.
-
What I want to know is, where do they make LARGE, cof:Dfees??
-
Just ask for a large one Jenny - like anything else. I used to find a lunchtime pide not quite enough and two way too much. On explaining this I got bemused looks all round and "why don't you order one and a half then?"
Simple really :D

They do lovely iced coffee at the Mosaic Garden!

We fancied an iced coffee when visiting Kale Park last October. It wasn't on the menu and were gobsmacked when charged 20 TL for the 2. Tasted lovely but never again at that price.

The reason most of the coffee, and tea, tastes terrible in Calis and Fethiye is that the water quality is just too hard and needs softening a bit. Doesn't matter what machine or brand of coffee you use hard water will kill it every time. There is a lot to making and keeping coffee tasting good but basically hard water gives you next to no chance.
Ozsut on the harbour Front is my favourite, also Illy is a top brand but Lavazza is Italy's number one in the home. I have found that, as with the UK, coffee is everywhere these days but good coffee is still hard to find but I love a good coffee all the same.
-
Could someone let me know where Blue Cafe is please? I dont remember seeing it.
-
When it's open it is the old Cafe Oley
-
Isn't it the old Cafe Ole when it's closed then Baz?
-
Yes as well
-
Where is the old Cafe Olay? :D
-
It's where Cafe Blue is now
-
Except when it's shut.
-
When it's open:D
-
Anyway....
as a lot of CBF members are going to Istanbul this year then my mum says that the coffee at Kahve Dünyasi (Coffee World) a Turkish franchaise is the business!
There don't appear to be addresses of the branches on their web site but there is one very close to the Grand Bazaar and another virtually opposite the Kabitas tram line (not sea side).
You get given a bowl of milk/bitter and white chocolate covered coffee beans (there may be some pistashios in there too).
Cakes are really yummy and they also sell loads of super chocolates and have a range of iced coffees.
