Have just been on the Aegean flights website and some interesting surprises! Firstly the free 20kg luggage allowance appears to have gone commpletly, the first 15kg is £6 per person per flight ie for two people its £24 return, and to get the 20kg its another £20 per person per leg, so for two persons return £104 extra!! Have used Onur for many years now, but unless I've read this all wrong it wont be for any more. Booked our flights for May 2010 earlier this year and will be checking to see how much luggage we have.
Hopefully I've misread and someone can put me straight, but otherwise dreadful news and the loss of my custom at least.

Hi Sandrats, we were looking on Aegean re flights for some of our family to come out next year. We thought exactly the same as you regarding the luggage prices and because of that we are looking at other airlines now. Maybe we've read it wrong too?
-
They are only doing what other airlines have already done this year, so you have still had a good deal off them this year as they have implemented this a year after most other airlines.
-
Kevin, the site reads as if it is £6 to book 15k of luggage & if you want to upgrade that to 20k it is another £20 - so £20 for 5k!
Guess that's cheaper then paying excess baggage charges though.
-
The £6 is a charge to check in the hold luggage, most airlines are doing that now, some charge more.
-
Having hit my lunch break and had time to look at other air lines they're all at it, Monarch, Thompson and Thomas Cook have also jumped on the 'rip off the customer' bandwagon - and to my shame it appears that Onur will still be cheaper! Oh well how naive of me to think that there might be fair competition out there!
-
depends when and from where. they are not always the cheapest.
-
I think it was TC who started the charge nightmare, first the meals then everything else they could think of. Onur were one of the last to charge for meals etc.
-
There are still some airlines that allow free hold bags,[ one has 25 kg hold bags 5 kg hand bags] free meals/drinks, free seats together included in the price..i expect they will follow the others soon though and charge add on,s.

Have booked all f my 2010 fligts and havent paid for luggae, this is what is stated on invoice :"EARLY BOOKING BAGGAGE
For 2010 Aegean flights will be charging for hold baggage. However as an added
benefit for booking early you will have 15kg of hold baggage included at no
extra charge if you book before 1st July"
Hope this clears up any confusion.
-
I just rechecked my invoice for next year and it says no hold baggage included but I can pay £6 for 15k
-
Flyglobespan are doing the same they charge for any hold baggage £8 for a 20k case which is per journey paying on-line but if you wait until you get to the Airport it's £13.00 per bag per journey. So for two people return it's £32.00 for baggage or £52.00 if you are not lucky enough to have access to a computer.
