Title: new to Calis
Post by: rosemay on October 30, 2009, 16:10:51 PM
Hi everyone - i am not sure i have used introduction area correctly being new and dont mean to offend anyone if ive done this wrong!

new to forum looking for handy tips and advise as just booked a holiday to Calis for next August.

Last year we went to Marmaris but think we picked wrong resort it
really wasnt for us. Worst thing was constant hassle

So this year tried to do homework better and come up with Calis. Most people seem to love Turkey so fingers crossed we will be more convinced this year also.

Any comparisons between marmaris and Calis?
Any reputable trip organisers any one can recommend and trips?
Can we get Dolmus direct to Olu Deniz and Feithye?
Are there lots of turkish restaurants in Calis? (love the mezes)
(we have booked to stay at Mutlu b & b)
One concern i saw on a picture of calis seemed to be a lot of stagnant water - are mozzies a problem cos unfortunately they love me!
Thanks v much for reading and hopefully taking time to reply. You may be sick of me by the time next summer arrives!
thanks again

Welcome aboard rosemay  :)

Hassle is one of the big differences between Calis & Marmaris - by conparison there is none in Calis. You may be asked if you would like to eat in a certain restaurant but thats as hasslesome as Calis gets.

You can reach Fethiye directly by either dolmus or water taxi. To get to Olu you have to go via Fethiye

 Welcome Rosemay to the CBF

Plenty of members have stayed at the Mutlu, you will enjoy it,and Calis is a lot more laid back than Marmaris  :)

Rosemay - welcome - we took the bus to Marmaris for a 2-night stay in early October - after 1 night I said to my wife "we are in hell" - admittedly a cheap and nasty hotel on the front near the bar area (my fault - like a bargain too much and should have known better!) - but still nothing to ever go back for and we left one night early on a 2 night break - enough said!

Ian

Ps Hisaronu - looks really classy by comparison!  :)

As someone who has decided to purchase a proerty in Ovacik and who is well travelled in terms of Turkey, you are makning the right choice
infact. transport is so good around Fethiye, you could stay in any resort but Calis is nice, as is evrywhere around this area. You will not be disappointed. Happy holiday.
