Title: Large Box for Hold - Problems?
Post by: Ian on October 31, 2009, 12:20:56 PM
Hi - don't ask me why but I have purchased a plastic shed from Argos - weighs 15kgs - stamped on plain off white cardboard outer but the overall packaging is 4" taller than a big case and 4" deeper than a big case - but it will fit perfectly on my balcony!!!!

Argos gave me the wrong dimensions which were orginally identical to the largest size suitcase. So I didn't anticpate a problem.

1. Will it be ok to go as hold luggage instead of my allowance as I won't have a case when we next fly out with Aegean.

2. Do you think if I put it on a trolley with Gill's case on top of it - anyone will notice and if so would they really want me to pay duty on a plastic shed!

Any comments related to your own experiences welcome  :)

Ian

My guess is it would be fine as your hold luggage,
failing that, erect it and wear it:D

Will this be the first time you've had an erection on a flight?

I know some have had electrical goods seized and have had to pay duty - any ideas if they could do the same on a plastic shed?  :)

Ps: Tinx - today it is grey and gloomy in the NW and Chelsea are in town to get a roughing up (combined with some good football lately) at Bolton.
A real test of character - a draw is my prediction!!!!  ;)

Two of our neighbours have both brought one of these over, one took it out of the packaging and managed to get it in a suitcase.

Hi to you both...we are fine thank you.  Don't forget we have still got that CD you wanted. You may have to check it in as oversize luggage but I cant see any real reason why you should not bring a plastic shed in. :)

Ian, might be worth checking that all of the bits are there before you bring it over?!!!

We brought a similar shed from B&Q over last June. We just left it in the origional packageing and it went via oversize baggage. No problem at all in Dalaman, the customs just asked what it was and scanned it. They are looking for electricals mainly so they can sting you for tax.
Shed now sitting happily in garden in Uzumlu.
