I always find Eren Spot in Fethiye are very good and reasonably priced. We even took pictures in from catalogues of furniture we liked and they made it for us at such cheap prices.

Did not get much feedback last time around and as we are arriving in Ovacik in 4-6 weeks to fit out our apartment ready for letting, I will try my luck again with the original posting, thanks in anticipation guys!

Just as an aside, would any one be interested in helping us out with our purchases when we come out to Ovacik late February 2010, somone who knows their way around and knows the most reasonable places to shop in terms of prices etc. I would obviously be prepared to meet reasonable expenses, thanks.

Just been on the Eren spot web site, they do not appear to sell plates, towels, poolside furniture, piots and pans etc, is that the case.

You could try the Beko/Arstil shop opposite the Yapi market(B&Q), they will have just about everything you need, all with good warranties, and prompt service.

There is a large shop selling all sorts of kitchenware and crockery just a few shops along from Erin Spot.
Towels can be bought at the market as can the kitchen utensils etc

If you want to furnish cheaply and deal with someone who will give you good advice , great prices and won't mess you about    GO TO EREN SPOT !.      There isn't a huge choice but you will get most furniture you need , almost all electricals from toasters to large HD LCD TV's  , and outside furniture.  Bekir is an absolure gem of a guy

For plates cutlery etc the shop on the corner a few doors down also as mentioned above.

Between these 2 shops should get almost everything you need at good prices.

There are loads more shops out there so have a shop around, but re.  your question the above is the best advice I can give :-)

Thanks again guys, keep the advice comming, I really appreciate it.

Any idea if £975 per annum is about the going rate for interior and exterior maintenance?

Hi, If you need any help I live in Ovacik and would be glad to help if you need it.  Maintenance prices depends on what it includes.  We pay 1100 for gardens and pool all year round, but I look after 5 villas out of the 12, so if slates blow off or anything can get it sorted.

We went into this shop & enquired about something the price quoted was 900tl, 1 day later another assistant said 750tl so queried price & was told 750tl was price so that is my experience in this shop:-\

We have bought things from Eren's shop and the owner was always fair. They delivered the goods  very quickly as well. If you turn right upon leaving his shop there is a hardware store at the end of that particular row of shops that sells most things you need to start up a property with inexpensive basic items.

If you want more expensive furniture then Bellona or Istikbal are big furniture shops.

If you are coming out in the winter I would have thought it may be a good idea to just wander about along the streets in Fethiye for a while to see what is on offer as well. A wander around the Tuesday market is a good idea too.  :)

Kevin,  I'm not too sure what your point is.    Was it bad the price dropped by 150 ytl ?  :-)      I'd have been more peed off if the price had gone up ;-)

If that is your only experience of the shop and that's your "bad experience" , all I can say is I've bought a lot more from them over a number of years and they have bent over backwards to be helpful.   The odd item which has gone faulty was repaired / replaced with no quibble whatsoever.

I totally agree with Mr Bartfast on Eren Spot.

One thing I would say is that I would only ask Bekir for a price. That isn't to say the others try it on, it is to say that Bekir knows what the best prices they can offer are. Another thing I would say is that if you find a washing machine or fridge etc elsewhere, try taking the model number to Bekir and asking him for his price for it. Can't hurt can it  :)

what I am saying is maybe the 1st price the assistant was trying it on, if that is so it is my bad experience & it is not the 1st time I havebeen in the shop but it was my 1st attempt to buy from Bekir.I went there due to good reports for him on the forum but an experience like this leaves a bad taste in my mouth if it was an attempt to fleece me by the assistant & not Bekir.Maybe Bekir would like to comment on this.

It is not unreasonable to accept that Bekir (as the shop owner) can quote you a better price than one of the assistants. That's why I said deal with Bekir directly.

We went round a few places for the main furniture and they varied in price and quality. We wanted it to last and decided not to compromise on quality just because of the price and paid a little bit more for well made wardrobes, settees, chairs, tables and beds that would fit exactly were we wanted (we chose the style, size and colours.
White goods we got from bekirs(erun spot)and beko(opposite side of road)
Small electrical appliances from bekirs
Sun lounges from bekirs
Patio and balcony furniture from migros( maybe in april/may)
Kitchen gadjets, household equipement from migros
Cutlery/plates, tea towels etc from asda and took over
sun lounger/ patio seat covers shop going up the hill to ovacik.

There is also a handy household shop on the way up to ovacik which the locals use and you could save a bit there.

Hope this helps

David

Hi

We bought some of our furniture last February from Bellona furniture store.  We found February was a good time to buy, sales and reductions were around.  Hope this helps.

Haha, ever wondered how property management companies can afford to offer this "free" service?

Thanks again to all who have responded, really good advice as always.

I take Scunner's point though, but I presume that some benchmarking had been done before using this "free" service.

I could have taken up the offers and got 15% of spend minimum from all the furniture shops to bring customers to them. Furniture shop owners were round agents like flies around...erm...jam!

Who the hell wants a bloody personal shopper??!! Ask for a few pointers then set off out by yourselves - it's likely to be the only blank canvas you'll ever have in life, get round all the shops you were recommended to, the 15 near them that looked interesting but nobody mentioned, get down the back alleys and then you can bore the life out of everyone else for years with how much you got your fridge for and the funny story about buying the blue ornament next to the telly. Look at me, I've made a career out of it  ;)

It really is the one time when the last thing you need is a "personal shopper". Filling a property in Turkey from empty - everything from mop to plasma tv - is an experience you will never forget, and I bet for many reasons - but the main one is the adventure of it all  :)

Shopping is great fun so just go and enjoy your self.
We got wrought iron beds & dining room table made to our designs - very reasonable prices.
Used Eren spot for beds mattresses, wardrobes, sun loungers and odds and sods - good starting point.
Towels we got from the market
Sheets & curtains we got from a shop called Gizems - but go check out linens in fethiye as they may have a sale on and the quality is excellent. I have noticed that prices have increased quite a bit over the last few years.
Have fun

Prices have definately increased over the last 3 years. We did a lot of our shopping at Sancarler on the main road near Kemer. They actually will pick you up and drop you back in Fethiye. The prices were very competitive and they have a very wide choice of furniture, white goods, curtains and bedding. The pot shop along from Eren spot shop was excellent as well. There is certainly more choice now than there was 3yrs ago.

My husband and I went down from Sweden to our new and very empty apartment for two days in the end of December. We ordered all our furniture from IKEA in Izmir at home from their On-Line-Shop and got it delivered exactly the day we wanted.
We bought 1 sofa, 5 armchairs, 2 coffee-tables, 1 dinner table, 6 chairs, 1 double bed, 2 wardrobes, 2 chest of drawers and 5 bedside tables. We paid 4600 TL for the furniture and 420 TL for the delivery. I can really recommend it (if you like Swedish stile ;))

I went to Ikea in Istanbul on Friday and I would highly recommend a trip to one of the stores - Antalya has nearest branch.

Not everything they have in stock is in the catalogue or on their web site.

Shop around in all the little local shops and the Tuesday market for accessories for the fun and experience...

I think you will find that the Ikea store in Antalya is no longer there, it closed down.Izmir is the nearest store.
