The One Pole survey ?
has named the five rudest and unfriendly countries as reported by British tourists.
France
Germany
Belgium
Spain
Turkey
With the most friendly
Holland
Greece
Portugal
Italy
Sweden.
Is there another Turkey that I don,t know about,
I know that most poles are fanciful but Turkey as the fith rudest,
or have I just been lucky. 8)
-
I would also disagree with the most friendliest !
-
This poll appears to be about rudeness and how welcoming you felt it was. It depends on what welcome you mean. If it is how you are welcomed into the country - i.e. how your arrival experience was, I'm surprised Turkey was as low as 5th! I've been to more countries than I care to list and never did I feel less welcome than in arrivals/passport control at Dalaman airport. Miserable bunch of gits, if first impressions really count you'd get back on the plane.

BON ANNOYAGE
France was yesterday (Tues) voted the most unwelcoming country in Europe.
Our 'friends' across the channel were named and shamed as most the hostile natives on the continent in a poll of 3,000 British tourists.
-
And I would'nt argue with that poll.!!1

there was once a place i visited that on arrival lugging my case to where i thought customs clearance was i was greeted by 2 gorgeous girls in grass skirts etc and told that there is no customs clearance and then as a welcome gift given a very large/strong tequila sunrise......great welcome
-
Antalya?
-
I dont like the arriving/passport/visa at Dalaman, they are sooo miserable, but its ok, because i am on holiday, and they are all working..
-
Try passport control in Oman or the UAE or even just general shopping in Oman - UNBELIEVABLE! So far I have no complaints about Turkey - from my first visit to now that I have moved here. I have found people to be incredibly helpful and friendly.
-
Can good manners be defined by nationality?
The French, generally, have a poor reputation when dealing with anyone who cannot speak their language.
Last year I went to France for the first time to fulfill a family obligation and I was not particularilly looking forward to it as I do not speak French.
I made my own way about on the railway,Metro,on foot and by taxi.
I was there for 5 days and never came across anyone who was anything other than civil and helpful.
Was I just lucky?
-
WE.
-
Yes, John, I would also say Oui, I worked with French people for 18 months they can be very rude.
I think the best manners I have ever experienced are in the States, the people are so well mannered, and it's lovely to have doors held open for you and for men to step out of the way and let you pass first.
-
and was this pole well travelled, or had he only been to five countries?
-
Must have been Dalaman am i right Denniz.:D:D ;)

If you want rude...try queueing on a boat full of germans.

Better still.Try arriving at Liverpool John Lennon airport with an American passport as my husband has.My husband had no reading glasses with him and had to fill in an imigration form (he has dual American/British citizenship). He asked the passport control officer for help filling the form in and was told 'NO' followed by 'you aren't getting in until the form's filled in'.As you can imagine I was REALLY proud of my own native City.....(NOT)

Hmm, they all smiled at me when I arrived.
Then again, just grin at them and say merhaba - works every time :D
-
tiddly. The bikini you arrived in may have had something to do with the smiles.:D:D
-
Works for Kevin every time

I always cover my modesty with my illegal imports.[:o)][:o)]

Well I have been around the block a fair number of times and ,for me it's the people of Ireland who take pride of place - no question.

I got detained at Dalaman for two days.It was the first Mankini they had seen and it took two days for them to stop laughing. [:X][:X][:X]

You cheeky bugger kevin! :P

Heathrow customs don't exactly greet you with a tequila sunrise. When I arrived in UK I was pulled into a private room and made to have a Tuberculosis test. Good times.
-
Heathrow Customs staff are the worst for rudeness we have ever seen at any Airport. They treat their customers like cattle.
-
No can't agree, I Have seen animals at Heathrow and they were definitely being treated better than I was :D
