Was at the Doctor's today, everyone sitting in the waiting room not knowing where to look and embarassed to stare or catch someones gaze.
This is because all reading material has been removed, a directive from the Department of Health due to Swine Flu.
When I went in to see my Doctor I told him I was now suffering mental stress from sitting in the waiting room for 25 minutes trying to stare at the wall. He said this directive was a load of rubbish but there was nothing he could do.
So be warned take something to read, or your knitting with you.
Jacqui.

Jacqui - did that include all the Health Leaflets.
PS Hope you get well soon :)

No, all the leaflets where still out and people desperate for something to read where holding them, then putting them back!!!
As for me Sciatica... six months in and still no cure, thanks anyway.

That is interesting, as I was at my doctor,s surgery two weeks ago and was bored stiff thinking why are there no magazines, now I know why! I did not make the connection with swine flu.

it took rob's doctor 5mins to see 3 patients.
he had no time to read :(

Does he have a conveyor belt like on the Generation Game? Was Rob the cuddly toy? :D

Another possible explanation for the absence of magazines and papers could be that the little swines that deliver them have the flu. ;)

Must be different here, I had to go to give a sperm sample and the doctor said there would be "reading material" in the room that may make the process a little easier for me. I did wonder how copies of Horse and Hound and People's Friend were supposed to help but I managed anyway.
The doctor also sent me for a hearing test, which was probably the correct thing to do given the circumstances. If I'd heard properly I'd have taken the first door on the left instead of the first door on the right and I wouldn't have ended up back in the waiting room in the first place.
