I believe that it has gone into administration ..... big blow for Scottish passengers.
-
Have booked with credit card some time ago. Any advice as to how I stand would be very welocme:(
-
if you booked by credit card you should be safe
-
I booked with credit card too. What a shame they have gone bust I just got used to flying from Aberdeen without that long trek to Glasgow or Edinburgh.. Lets hope someone else will start flights from Aberdeen before next Summer.
-
It's big blow to Scotland as they flew to lots of destinations. Not only that, the more popular destinations flew daily, so you could scoot away for a weekend break. So sad!
-
my travel trade gazette only states that formal notification will be on line later today from globespan ,, and also from the C A A in the morning.and also pricewaterhouse the receivers
they also state if you have paid via C/C you will need to contact your card company asap.,
a very big blow for scottish travellers and also those who have booked flights via others on charter flights from the whole uk.
the BBC news web page has more info on this , scoll down and you will find it, .

Oh dear I had one way booked with Globespan and back with Aegean. Will have to try TC now and probably pay twice as much as I got quite good prices.
It is a shame really as so many people used them up our way.
-
If you have booked a package holiday you are covered by ATOL. If you have booked just flights you will only have a chance to get money back if you have paid by credit card.
Contacted my Credit Card Company this evening, they are sending me a claim form to claim back my flight costs. It will take up to 5 days to receive this form.
-
Jacqui - have sent you an email.
-
same same, booked 2 sets of flights from ABZ but paid with CC, anything costing over £100 is covered.
-
We are booked with Globespan from Edinburgh in May, need to start looking for other flights, no doubt the others will have doubled their prices by now.

I looked on TC and they were actually cheaper but then travel and overnight stays in Gleasga to add on:(
-

That's bad news but tell your parents if they have holiday insurance to contact their Insurance Company they may be able to claim. I always moan about paying the extra for a credit card payment over £14.00 this year with Flyglobespan, but I decided to look on it as insurance, which is what it has turned out to be.[:(!]

Just lost a holiday in Eqypt next Jan, also flights to Dalaman next May. Paid by Debit card so no refunds. Re-booked flights for May with TC airlines about same price as Globespan.
-
If you paid by Visa DEBIT card this may be worth a look ...... it is from Moneysaving Expert site.
Did you pay on a Visa Debit or Credit Card?
If you paid on a Visa credit card for something over £100, then use section 75 above as that is legal protection and is a legal right.
Yet if you paid on a Visa debit card for any amount, or in the unlikely event you paid for flights under £100 on a credit card, then you have a reasonable chance to get your cash back via the Visa Debit Chargeback system.
Unlike with credit cards, Chargeback isn't a legal protection, but a protection from Visa's own rules. It's effectively Visa's own refunds system. It's designed so that if you pay for something and that order/service hasn't been adequately completed or is never received, or the order is illegitimate in some way, your bank can do a chargeback from the bank that collected the payment.
The crucial part of this is that the chargeback means you're asking for a refund from Zoom's payment processing bank rather than Zoom itself, which is great news, as Zoom has no cash, but its bank does!
Importantly, your bank must request a chargeback within 120 days of you realising the contract won't be completed (not from the date of the transaction), but don't even think of leaving it that long; get the wheels in motion straight away.
How do you do a chargeback?
Quite simply call up your bank, with all the details of the payments made to Zoom (check your statements, if you don't have them, ask the bank for details, but this will slow things down) and ask it to "start the Chargeback procedure" to get you your money back on the basis of "non-delivery of the goods".
At this point it's quite possible the person you're talking to will never have heard of Chargeback. Yet don't let that put you off; this is a legitimate system, and you need to (politely) stand your ground. If the bank says no, write an official letter of complaint and note that you'll be writing to complain to Visa.
Luckily, the more people who try to do a Chargeback, the more likely it is the banks will know the process and proceed.

I agree, I just saw on the news that the Company they were using to take third party credit card payments had not paid them 30 million pounds which was a contributory fact to them going bust.
Incidentally, H, I did not receive an email from you, but if you are thinking of hiring a plane to fly us all from Aberdeen to Dalaman, put us down for 2 tickets.
Jacqui :D :)

The figure I read was £ 34 million and what is really appalling is that £ 20 million of it is said to be for holidays and flights which have already been taken and therefore there is no risk. It's a DISGRACE:(
PS Will get Euro Milllions ticket on the way home and when I buy the jet, I'll swing passed your place and pick you and yours up. Make sure hubby has the road cleared of snow though, cause I'll need to use that as a runway ;)
-
Just emailed Jetair to see what they will charge to charter our own plane in 2010. You never know ...........
-
Oooh that was quick :
Hi Stuart
Thanks for your email
We will look at this and get back to you as soon as possible with some charter costs
Kind regards
Tina

This story gets more and more annoying. I really hope that something will be done about this Cypriot businessman Mr Elia.
