I used to be happy with the service of THY but after having delay for 4,5 hours and seeing people who have 7 hours delays, made my thoughts changed.
They combined 3 flights, packed the passengers of that 3 flights in to one flight. Some passengers had 7 hours some had 4,5 hours delays. They saved the expense of 2 flights which is a big money. The plane was very dirty and stifling. After arrival, we realised that our 2 luggages were damaged. I sent a complain letter to THY, but guess what happened ? They answered me with an e mail full of lies. So I am making complaints to other places.
Today, I heard another horror story from one of my friend who is coming from London to Dalaman via Istanbul. Their flight delayed (as usual) and they missed the plane from Istanbul to Dalaman. They were told to wait for next day !!! At the end they were put to Izmir flight and were brought to Dalaman airport by a coach from Izmir (4 hours drive). THY didnt even offer to leave them to Fethiye, just left them at Dalaman airport. And their luggages are lost !!!
I know it is not easy to make a complaint to Turkish authorities as a foreigner, but I advised them to make a complaint to Star Alliance http://www.staralliance.com/en/contacts/ , which I did also.
I dont know if their TV advert with Kevin Costner is on English channels. In that advert, there is a nice song "I feel like a star", they should change it to "I feel like a s**t "

I would say that it is only once in a while when this happens and also every other airline is just as guilty for doing something like this by letting passengers down.
I have flown THY heavily (40 odd flights this year alone) and have never had a bad experience but thats not to say that my time might come.

Earlier this year I returned frm Damascus to Dalaman via Istanbul on THY. Unfortunately my luggage did not arrive at Dalaman with me.
However my case was delivered to my house the very next day at the time specified by the lost luggage department but the was case was damaged. I telephoned Dalaman and they told me that they would have replacements ready for me to choose from. I told them that I was flying to England from Antalya the next morning. No problem, was the reply, pick one up from our office in Antalya airport when you return.
When I went to the office a couple of weeks later there sat my nice new case.
I have tavelled many times with THY and cannot really fault them.

Few hours after posting this topic , a big news came to Turkish newspapers ... Chairman of THY resigned. I know cbf is an effective website, but didnt know that much :D

Well Garry's brother Mark flew to Dalaman from Stansted via Istanbul last sunday with Pegasus
He also arrived at Dalaman minus his luggage
I got a call from Dalaman the next day and his luggage was delivered to me in Calis a few hours later by 2 security staff from Dalaman/Pegasus
The luggage was left in Istanbul - I would therefore assume that the fault lies with the ground staff rather than Pegasus or THY ???? Sue x

I received an e mail from Star Alliance today. They wrote,they will pass my complaint to AIR CHINA !!!
THY and Star Alliance deserve eachother :)
