Hi - I have used the search function before I posted to look at previous posts ;)
Our insurance is due in February - I seem to remember someone saying that they didn't get paid out by a popular / well used business.
So I am trying to establish who has been paid out - without unnecessary delays and feels really satisfied with their insurance provider and if so - who is it???? I seem to remember Stoop had a claim??
No need to "rubbish" anyone just interested in a straw poll!
As I think I said previously (it's my age) the price is irrelevant if you don't get paid out.

Yes we got paid out after much hard work and arguing. Unfortunately our management company were pretty useless and we had to sort it out ourselves in the end with the aid of our new management - Nikkie (sunnyd). Looks like we have another claim looming as we are flooded again in Koca. Hopefully this time it will be more straight forward.
Oh happy days :)
-
Erm
The question being asked is
WHO IS IT lol
-
Stoop - can you tell us who "paid out"?
-
Ak Sigorta paid out for flood damage.
Office is near Sultan Pastanesi in Fethiye.
Agent is called Nesihe.
-
Cheers amca - one is better than none!!! :)
-
baris insurance paid out to our flood damage in the house,no problems
-
I claimed for damage caused by water leaking from solar pipes 4 years ago and no problems. That was Commercial Union in Fethiye. Next to the cinema and up the stairs to 2nd floor.

Did they pay out that claim you made for having to live on the same complex as Lance?
-
Sorry - ErgoisviƧre
-
Baris did not pay out on a health insurance claim for me even though it was covered in the policy we bought...
-
Many thanks for your replys.
It looks like 1 a piece for 4 insurance businesses and one own goal!!
Any second recommendations for any of them???
Ian
-
Well ours did pay out and it was mainly because of others incompetence (not theirs) that things were delayed. Once we got involved in the claim process ourselves things moved on pretty quickly and we got a fair outcome.
-
Hi Baris insurance paid for decoration after flooding on my top two floors no problem at all.
-
Ak Sigorta paid a percentage of our claim-we had to agree with them that Hanel's roof construction was crap ...well they called it poor workmanship (understatement of the year)!
-
We made claims for flood damage and burglary to Fiba sigorta this year. Yes we got paid but we had to prove everything which meant if something was beyond fixing due to water damage, we had to get a report from an engineer to say so....bit of a pain.
I would suggest to everyone that you go around your house taking photo's of all your possessions...makes it a lot easier when trying to prove whats missing after a burglary.
The amazing thing was after 2 claims in one year, our cost to renew the policy was cheaper !!!
All in all we were satisfied with Finans.
-
Eric - that's great advice - never thought of taking photos.
When you said overall impressed with Finans did you mean Fiba - or is that the name of Finans insurance provider?
Ian
Ps 2 gold stars for AK and 2 for Baris now :D :D
-
We found Fiba to be total crap:-\. When the roof was severly damaged in the storms last february, apparently the worst in Fethiye for donkeys years, taking 5 ceilings and the contents of the linen cupboard with it we claimed 2,800 YTL. they paid 470 YTL :o. The agents office is on the main Fethiye road near the tuesday market, these were equally useless:(, claiming for water damage and not storm damage, despite their inspector coming out and speaking to the contractor who replaced the whole roof and ceiling and repaired the decore. The pay out didnt cover the cost of the bedding/towels/ etc in the cupboard which was all brand new earlier that year.I visited the agents office from april til september and emailed on a regular basis from the UK and I am still waiting for an explaination of how they arrived at the derisory settlement figure and how they considered this a fair and accurate assessment of my loss.[:(!]

Sorry Ian, yes, Fiba insurance is part of Finans, or so I believe.
-
AXA woudnt pay when we got burgled as the items were brought in from Uk on holiday, and not itemised on the policy.
-
Looks like small print is coming in to play on a few occasions!!!
Brought from the UK seems a little unfair to me.
I remember when I was first married in 1976 we had a new suite and a party in our first house (semi detached with an integral gargage - very posh!!)
Anyway someone accidentally burnt a hole in the suite with a cigarette - so I claimed on my insurance. When I filled in the form I was asked "did combustion take place" or something like that - I answered No as there was no flame / fire. End result - not covered under fire and theft as no combustion - never trusted an insurance policy ever since!!!

AXA wouldnt pay out on our claim when we were flooded my kitchen had only been fitted 4 months, so dont use AXA

-
AXA looking a poor choice - thanks for all the info.
It looks to me as though the winners are AK Sigorta & Baris
Top Tips - take photos of your possessions and if you bring things from the UK make sure they are covered on your travel insurance if you can.
Many thanks - Ian

Go for AK

Good post Ian,
All insurers are fine, until you have to make a claim.
We have been with AK Sigorta for over five years and fortunately have not had to make a claim,(touch wood)but it has been good to hear other members experiences and has given us a degree of comfort, with our original choice.

Have had a couple of claims with Allianz, for health and home and every time with a phone call to Ali Kuralturk all sorted and fully paid, no probs, very satisfied, even finds you the best doctor or surgeon anywhere in Turkey if necessary
