Title: How Were Your Christmas Dinners Then
Post by: Scunner on December 26, 2009, 18:58:17 PM
They advertised their impressive menus, but how did the various restaurants in Turkey do with the turkey?

I had an interesting meal with a tough old bird.

Bostans, fantastic meal, well presented, Just like home, we were absolutely stuffed, had to sit for 2 hours before we could move.

Mulled wine on arrival, the biggest slice of pate I've been served in a restaurant, served with onion marmalade and toast, then the main course, loads of Turkey and all the veg, then the gorgeous Eton mess followed by coffee and mints, all washed down with a complimentary liqueur.

Well done Recep, Carol and staff.

We went to Zukkum. Excellent. Hubby ordered melon stuffed with fresh fruit...When it came out it was that big I didn't know if he had to eat it or climb it!
The roast pork was and beef was succulent and lots of it.
Christmas pud was lovely, but don't quite understand why it was served with banans ice cream :o
Oh yes, and dvd's of classic comedy.....brilliant. We would definately go again. ;)

We enjoyed a lovely Christmas dinner in Anna's Restaurant & the party that followed it. We left at 6pm & when I returned at 10pm the celebrations were still going on!

Top marks for ambience, music, decorations, two log fires, friendly staff, all in all a lovely day out.

Sorry Tintin that no Scousers turned up you would have had a brilliant time with all the Scouser Scally's, the Institute people, the Approved people and not forgetting the Baileys clientele.

This topic as I have been now learned and got a smack on the handie for is only for "How was your Christmas Dinner?"

If you want to know mine was like it was great!

Starters: Obviously Prawn Cocktail
Main meal: Fresh turkey cooked upside down overnight stuffed with Garlic and Herb stuffing (Jamie Oliver eat your heart out!), roast beef, pork, Roasties cooked in goose fat, mash with butter, caulie, carrots and turnip and the good old Brussels sprouts!  Topped off with Bisto gravy
Dessert:  Nobody wanted Christmas cake, mince pies or Christmas pud - went straight to the Vienetta.

Only cook for a max of 10 so please don't ask for any bookings for next year!

Who is drooling?  And guess what I have to do the whole blooding thing all over again on New Years Day!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE WHO READS THIS! or AM I ON THE WRONG PLACE TO POST FELICITATIONS.............(Have I learnt to spell or what)

Lin

It takes a lot to get us offended just comment on what you thought of my dinner.  Isn't what this post is for?  Haaa Haaaaaaaaaaaa!

Don't know how to do quotes Scunner, haven't got round to asking but will.

Not taking it personal and not having a go but why did it take you so long to say this topic was meant for how the restaurants in Turkey did?  Didn't see the same reply for the first three posts on the topic dated 26th and mine was dated 28th ???? or didn't you just not like the sound of my dinner?

Must be on the other side!

Oh I think you are on both counts, but to answer your question...

Many topics go off at tangents and this is normal behaviour for CBF. I wasn't asking you not to write anything, even though you seem to think there is a clique that you aren't part of. You wrote just comment on what you thought of my dinner. Isn't what this post is for? - and my reply was simply to answer that. You continued with the incredibly strange Haaa Haaaaaaaaaaaa! which I thought would be best ignored.

So the answer is, you asked if the topic was not in fact for people to discuss your Christmas dinner, and I politely pointed out that no, originally it wasn't. If it was that important to follow the subject I would have deleted it. It is only important to one person as I see it. Someone who queries this thread every single day without fail.

Scunner as you are aware I have been a member for only a few months and have only posted 33 replies not every single day as you are quoting, these replies being of my own experiences towards the topics that are available.  I like to join in where I can, do not want to upset anyone and know there are serious topics on this forum that concern both the people who live in Turkey, have property or just like to visit.

The Haaa Haaaaaaaaaaaaa was in reply to a post by Tintin 1504 who said no Scousers turned up!  I am in no way putting this topic down or any other that I have posted a reply on!

Can't say anymore can I?

Closure!

Christmas day/dinner here in England was great. Unable to compare with Christmas in Turkey this year, but will take note of meals enjoyed by those of you in Turkey for next year. :D

We went to the terrace in Ece Sarray in Fethiye, it was abssolutley brilliant, we had an 8 course meal !!! the setting and service were first class, each table was individually decorated and they started serving us wine with the meal, then they told us that they forgot to mention that the first few glasses were included in the price, anyway, after about 4 glasses each and a coffee and brandy for me to to finish with, the total bill for this magical evening was 135 lira.

Never knew this place existed but it is real class and can't wait to go back in May. (and next Xmas if they do the same again)

Hi all
The Rugby Club in Doha.
Good food catered by the Ramada and good company. What makes it even better is that it;'s less than 200 meters away so no driving.
