Strange is it not that there has been no mention, until now,of the mega disaster in Haiti,a death toll of possibly 200,000,pictures broadcast daily of the suffering, starving kids, utter devastation.
Have we become so used to these events, brought to us in the comfort of our homes, that they've become just part of the normal structure of life.
We get on this forum moaning and groaning about the price of electricity, cost of food, weather etc, etc. We just do'nt know, when you really think about it,just how bloody fortunate we all are when it comes down to it.Makes you feel ashamed really.
I've contributed to the relief fund, its made me feel I've helped in some small way.

Just because it is not mentioned on the forum does not mean we are indifferent to it. The UK has contributed £23 milliom pounds to the disaster fund to date - not really indifference.
-
Not indifference, more a quiet resignation and relief that it hasn't happened to us, there is nothing I could say that has not been said better by others elsewhere,
also the feelings of helplessness in the face of natural disasters and the vague feelings that we just might be trivializing the disaster by discussing it.

If anyone still wants to give to help the people in Haiti then here is a link to a list of the highest-rated charities by CharityNavigator.org, which is an independent, nonprofit organization that evaluates charity groups based on effectiveness and financial stability. These sites are vetted by CNN journalists for credibility.

This list includes organisations already established and with a proven track record of working in Haiti.

Not indifference by any means. I helped train a lot of the Fire Service Rescue Team members who are there at the moment. I was a Field Commander in the UK Fire Service Search and Rescue team. My heart goes out to those affected, I have seen it many times before and have an appreciation of what is going on. My thoughts are also with the Rescue teams and hope they stay safe.

Not indifference. Sometimes, somethings are so bad that words are meaningless.
-
No, Not indifference. It's just sometimes things are so bad, so huge,I for one feel very ,very insignificant.
I Sure that we all give to our chosen charity, and just thank god it's not us, and just hope all the small amounts we give can help in some way.
What else can we do ?
