Title: Liverpool
Post by: Jenny1 on January 26, 2010, 19:30:31 PM
Hi
I'm driving my daughter to Liverpool for the day this Sat, and as I have never been before, I wondered if you could give some info?
I'll be driving from Manchester, so best place to park that is central.
What places to visit, and are they all central?
Is there a travel lodge or something similar nearby?
Last time I visited Liverpool, Fred was on his little weather island!! :D

Hi Jenny
My home town!  There are lots of places to park in the middle of town but it will cost you!  If you are thinking of staying overnight then I would suggest you check out the hotels in town as you will get free parking.  They do work out the same price as staying in the Travel Lodges which are outside.  We have one not far from us and the prices are over £50 per night.

As for places to visit it depends on what you want to see.  Liverpool 1 is the place to go at the moment it has everything from top designer shops to cinemas and a hotel.  Worth a visit is the Beatles Museum and all that stuff also Matthew Street and Cavern Walks.  These are all central or if you want to do the highbrow stuff we have the most fantastic buildings, museums, art galleries anywhere in the country.

You can still go and see where Fred lived but you won't find his map.  It now has restaurants and bars and also the Maritime Museum.

Hope you have a good time as everything you need is in town, the atmosphere is fantastic!!!!!!!

When we where last down in my hometown we stayed at an Hotel down at the Albert Docks (where they used to film Fred). It was quite a good place to stay, as we got good views of the Mersey, there where some nice shops, restaurants and also the Maritime Museum and about 10 minutes walk up to town.  Parking was great because there was a free car park at the Hotel. As I remember there where a couple of hotels down there.  An Express by Holiday Inn and a Premier Lodge.[^]

Jenny, Email "Rimms" off this Forum. He has devised a walking tour of Liverpool and it's fantastic, you pass 6 pubs during the walk:D

There are a number of budget hotels on the Dock Rd near to the Albert dock, ones I can remember are Formule 1, Dolby and Campanile. There is also the new Hilton, but that is expensive. I'll try and remember some of the others.

Stay at the Adelphi, it has modern wonders of technology the likes of which you would never believe. In the morning you see that you must have been cold during the night, as the wallpaper has come down over your bed to provide another layer.
