Title: kennel cough
Post by: terrie on January 27, 2010, 12:59:12 PM
A turkish man brought in seven puppies, to the animal shelter, that he found in the country, approx two weeks ago,it has now been found out that some of these puppies had kennel cough.two of these puppies have sadly passed away, and a couple of other dogs are being monitored at the moment as they are showing signs of the cough, apparently the symptoms can take a week or so to show .
we would advise at this time not to take any puppies from the centre, for at least a couple of weeks,
kennel cough is an airbourne virus, mostly treatable, but as many turkish people do not have their dogs vacinated, can be fatal, mainly to puppies
hopefully this will pass quickly, and be back to normality soon

That must be so hard for you all to deal with.  Hope they did not suffer.

The 2 puppies that died my friend had and looked after them so well,by both them and the vet (Kent Vet)the 2 of them were so endearing and more than just my friends missed them when they died. Many thanks to Andy for his kind words, and support and we will definetly be at the shelter one thursday very soon.
