Title: April 2010 - With any luck!
Post by: simon7685 on January 28, 2010, 11:31:46 AM
Hi Guys

I am still struggling to find any reasonable flights to come out for Easter.  The best deals are from London airports but when you live in Scarborough that is a long way to go and when you factor in the travel costs it suddenly isn't a good deal anymore.  I still have not given up totally on getting some Turkey time and thought I might bombard you all with all thise questions you love to hate, especially Mr. Scunner: :):D

Would I be right to think that the weather is liable to be similar to the last 2 weeks of October, when we had a mixture of everything but snow?  If anyone can remember back to the dim and distant past of last April 1st 2 weeks, what sort of temperatures could we expect?

Will there be much open in Calis, or is it still a bit early?

Do the water taxi's run from the beginning of April?

Is the Sunday and Tuesday Market still operating and in full swing

Will we be able to take advantage of some trips, like 12 island one?

Does the water park open or is it still to early and bloody cold?

I know it's hard to answer questions about the weather, in fact it's pretty impossible but just some ideas would be appreciated.

Also will there be any Doggy Do's going on between 1st and 15th April?

Thanks for all your help
Simon:D

No boat trips. The Aqua Park isn't open because yes it is too bl***y cold to swim.  Probably there will be doggy do's. No the water taxi's won't be running. Not much open in Calis except the usual bar's. Nil etc.

We found April to be warm and a nice time of year, warm and with the snow covered mountains to
    get some great shots off.
Good luck with flights,if you can go a day or 2 before school holl, flights might be
   cheaper.Hope you get there Simom.

April is a fab time to visit - expect a diversity of weather conditions, but we find its the best time of year for walking, the wild flowers and blossom are beautiful.  We have sat out and 'tanned' during the good days.  take books for the bad days !   Whatever - its relaxing and probably far better that the english weather at that time of year !  (pack your own chocolate easter eggs though !)

I agree it's lovely in terms of the blossom, etc.  We were there for the first two weeks of April last year - I thought the flights were ridiculously expensive.  We had a couple of good days of sunshine but it tipped it down the rest of the time.

I just answered the questions. lol. However if he wants to spend a fortune to see blossom? Seriously it is a lovely time of year and there is plenty to do. It just doesn't involve swimming and boat trips. Easter IS early this year.

Why not leave it and come out for the kids Summer holidays when the weather is warm and everything is open?  Mr Scunner (our leader) got some really cheap Easyjet flight last year leaving from Manchester.

Found this on flythomascook website
Flight Price (BHX to DLM)
    2 Adults @ £105.99 £211.98 GBP
Flight Price (DLM to BHX)
    2 Adults @ £58.99 £117.98 GBP

Total Price£329.96 GBP I think you have to add the price of luggage at the end
also try charter flight center they have flights from Manchester

Me and the wife are flying over on KTHY on the 3rd of April but we booked about 6 months ago
we have been in March and April before and find it very relaxing we also find it a good time to explore as its not as hot as summer but the sun still shines, its advisable to take warmer clothes for the nights as they can get a bit chilly I think you will love it but be prepared for some rain as it has rained at least once when we where there   :)

I have just looked for those flights from Birmingham and either they have all gone or I am just unlucky because for 3 adults and 1 child, it is coming up with just short of £300 each:-\

Just going to try Leeds Bradford to see if anything is available.

Still searching for cheap flights for easter, best so far are £256 basic price with luggage costs to add:(

I was looking round today and found 14 nights in Cyprus Half Board going on 31 March for £376 each in a 3* Hotel.  That makes me wonder, how they can justify the price they charge for flights[?]

Hi Trainer - we're coming over on the very same flight!  Have you used them before? I have heard coming back can be a challenge as your reserved seats are probably taken by those getting on board in Cyprus!

yes we have used them before flew with them twice last year, when we flew out with them in September we had a 5 hour delay but that was due to a baggage handlers strike in Cyprus. You get free drinks with your meal but the meal wasn't great, for the price can't really fault them, not had a problem coming back myself but have heard of some seating problems  :)
