& be aware that you'll now be subject to a £100 fine since not just the return, but also the payment are due BY MIDNIGHT TODAY. Even using internet banking, the credit won't show in HMRC's A/C until tomorrow. [:(!]

I had one of the emails in October. What you need to remember is that the tax office, banks, building society's etc will not ask for your bank details via email.  They may write to you or telephone.  If you're not expecting an email and don't know who the sender is, don't respond.  You could ring the tax office to verify if you need to put your mind at rest.
