As many of you are aware Ceni / Mrs KKOB is currently in the UK undergoing treatment for cancer and I'm in Turkey looking after our 4 dogs and the house.
It's become apparent over the last few weeks, and with more test results this week, that Ceni's treatment is going to be long-term and after her Chemo and further treatment she's going to have to continue a regime of regular check-ups, initially 6 weekly.
As you can no doubt imagine we can't afford to maintain 2 households over a long period nor can we afford for her to keep returning to the UK for her regular check-ups. The thought of us staying apart is causing great distress to Ceni, which as you can imagine is not good for her at this time.
With all this in mind I have to return to the UK for the foreseeable future.
We cannot afford to take the 4 dogs to the UK with us and regrettably this means that they need to be re-homed in Turkey.
So, we are offering the following dogs for adoption by members in Turkey.
Molly. A 3 year old Kangal bitch.
Benson. A 4 year old Chocolate coloured German Short-Haired Pointer.
Lucy. A 7 year old Liver and White Long-Haired English Springer Spaniel.
Sam. A 2 and a half year old White and Light Brown Pointer / Beagle mix.
All 4 dogs have been neutered / spayed and have up to date vaccination certificates for Rabies, Bronchitis, Distemper etc. Lucy is also chipped.
They are all house-trained and also act as Alarm Dogs. That is, they'll bark only when anyone approaches the property and will stop on command.
Several members of the forum have met the dogs and I think they'll agree that they are all well adjusted and friendly dogs that would fit well into a European household either individually or as part of a group.
I can give anyone interested in re homing any of the dogs a lot more information on their individual characters, eating habits and general nature. They are all wonderful characters and it breaks our hearts to have to leave them behind.

KKOB - so sorry to hear about your sad news.
I don't know what your plans are regarding your home in Kaya but have you thought about the possibility of letting someone stay there to housesit and look after your dogs say for 6 monthly renewable contracts? Just a thought as you may one day want to return and it would be so sad to give up your much loved dogs. There may well be someone who is looking for a long term let who you would trust with both your house and your dogs. Just a thought.
Anyway my very best wishes to you and your wife at this difficult time
Janet

My thoughts and prayers are with you both. I have never had the pleasure in meeting you personally but have appreciated your help and advice on the forum on so many matters. Good luck with your future. God Bless.
-
Alan we are so sad your Turkish dream has to end this way. I am sure every Forum member is wishing you both well so we hope the power of all our thoughts will help you and Ceni win this battle.
-
Thank you everyone for the messages on here, the emails and text messages I've received.
So far though, I've not had any definite offers of help with the dogs so please keeping putting the word out with friends, family and neighbours.
-
Whilst we are not in a position to help with the re-homing of the animals we are trying as hard as we can to help by letting as many people as possible know about the situation and what lovely animals they are.
Whilst Tony and I were aware of Ceni's treatment we were so upset to learn of your situation. Of course you must be with Ceni in the UK Alan, as it will give her a lot of strength and help her through the treatment stages.
Plan C might be a very viable option but finding the right person is of course paramount, might it be worth contacting Fethiye Times as they have many readers in the UK? Tony and I will keep trying on your behalf.
Our very best wishes to Ceni ... our thoughts are with you both at this very difficult time.
-
So very sorry to hear of your sad situation and it must be heartreaking to give up your beloved dogs I hope you manage to find good loving homes for them all and I wish Ceni success in her treatment Prayers and thoughts are with you both
-
Our thoughts are with you too Alan. Best wishes to Mrs KKOB. I hope you find good homes for the dogs. Will put the word out here. Only wish we could take Benson back but that's just not possible. Our thoughts are with you both Alan
-
So sorry to hear the bad news. Although I already have 3 dogs, all bitches, I was thinking, if your Benson would get on with the girls, as he,s the nearest to their age, would try to help you out. He would have a wonderful spoilt home here, I taker the girls out, all weathers, twice a day for an hour each time, and they come to Desperado as well, so play on the beach, Please email me, if you would like and we can introduce them and see if it,s a goer. My thoughts are with you
-
Hi Alan, I don't know if we have met, but am very saddened to hear of this news, if you would like to either email me details and pics of the dogs or drop info at the shop I would willingly help to advertise for you, my shop has a vast amount of british visitors on a daily basis, only yesterday a lady was asking if I knew of a kangal for sale, she will be visiting me on Thursday maybe she will be in a position to take at least one of your dogs, hopefully all four so they can be together.
I sincerely hope everythng works out for you both.

Unfortunately we aren't in a position to help with the dogs but just wanted to send your wife and yourself good wishes and hope that you will find a home for the dogs soon
I would urge someone to adopt Lucy as my family had an English Springer Spaniel for almost 13 years and in my opinion they are the friendliest, most wonderful dogs in the world
-
The situation at the moment is that Molly and Sam have been offered a home near Dalaman by a member of another forum. They'll be going there in a couple of weeks time for a visit and introduction to their prospective new Mum and Dad. All being well, for them, it'll be a one-way trip.
As you'll see from a previous post, ovaciksarah has offered to give Benson a chance to join her and her girls. He'll be meeting them on Thursday and we'll let you all know how it goes.
Lucy is the only dog for which there hasn't been any definite interest yet. As many of you know, Springer Spaniels have a reputation for spending most of their time running round like lunatics. Lucy's nature is of the complete opposite. In fact, I've never know such a laidback and docile dog as her. She'd settle very well into a nice slow and easy environment where she could spend her time dozing, eating, generally ambling around and most importantly, being loved. She's quite relaxed about other dogs, cats, chickens, and other livestock, provided they don't stick their noses in her dinner bowl.

My heart goes out to you and Mrs KKOB, I wish you both the very best. Good luck with the dog adoptions, I know how much they mean to you both.

Good News Everyone !!!
I've just had a firm offer of a home for Lucy from an English couple, who are members of another forum, living in Datca.
So, providing Benson doesn't disgrace himself on Thursday it looks as if we're sorted.
Long live the power of the forums !!

Great news Alan .....you can now concentrate on helping to get Ceni well again. I hope the new owners will be able to post pictures of how the dogs get on in their new homes. We have watched their progress over the years from Benson's move, Sam arriving as a little white ball with a pot belly, the sadness of Molly getting shot.....we will miss them too :)
-
Thanks for all the kind messages, advise and offers of help everybody.
Onwards and Upwards !
-
Don't let us down Benson!!!!
-
Very sorry to hear you are leaving us for a while and glad that you have found homes for all the dogs. Any changes to plans for Lucy please let me know.
Also I have a friend who I'd talked to about plan C.
If your house has an area (field) for a horse and you decide you would like someone to house sit/take on short term rent she would be interested.
Again please let me know.
Very best wishes to you and your wife; I hope it all works out for you and that you visit us on the forum sometimes.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

-
Ceni - we sent Alan an email, but I just want to reiterate again our support...if there is anything we can do,please just let us know. (Mr Pookie's even offered some gardening when we are there in the summer....now thats an offer rarely spoken !). Get well soon, we are thinking of you both. xxx

Just to say, Benson is now at mine, girls are not too impressed, he,s crying for his dad, and wanting to be next to me all the time, but hopefully in the next few days he will settle down, lots of long walks, I,ll try to tire him out. Funny, talking to Allan and remember him from the one time I saw him as a puppy in Hisaranou. All keep your fingers crossed, Ayse, the dominant bitch has just told him where to go!
-
I didn't know Alan was once a puppy in Hisaronu!
-
best wishes to you both
thanks for all your useful info
good luck and stay strong.
