Title: Benson
Post by: KKOB on February 12, 2010, 14:43:04 PM
Following on from a previous thread Benson went to his new home yesterday morning and sadly it hasn't worked out.

One of the other dogs has made it quite clear that she's not having Benson in the house and he'll be back with me tonight.

So, once again, if anyone's looking for a well trained, 4 year old, affectionate, Chocolate Coloured German Short Haired Pointer, please get in touch.

I hope this works out for him, he's a wonderful boy, very happy, loves his share of attention, although he might miss his daddy and mates for a while, once settled, someone is going to have a fantastic friend in Benson.

I think out of all of them I'll miss my Benny Boy the most :o(

Just talked to Alan, forgot his passport when had to take him back, he,s going to Uzumlu.  So sorry it didn,t work out.  Ayse, one of my bitches, couldn,t stand him, unusual for her, but he,s so sweet, just wants cuddles all the time, but loved his walks in the mountain.  Really hope this works out well for both of them, I,ll miss him even though we only had him for a night

Just spoke to Anna & Ayhan, Benson has claimed the armchair in front of the fire, had his dinner, is very interested in the chickens:D and is still trying to work out the pecking order with the cats.  But he has well settled in already, so fingers crossed it will all be good.

So hoping for a successful outcome .... we knew Benson fairly well and nearly took him ourselves before Alan and Ceni saved the day. We are not in position to anymore but have taken an active interest in Benson's re-homing and are delighted to hear the result so far .... long may it continue.

All our VERY VERY best to you Ceni and Benson in his new home xxxx

Oh no ... such a shame! It would appear that he just doesn't want to separated from his Dad. Let's hope you have a another offer of a good home soon and that it's 3rd time lucky for Benson.

Come on folks!

Isn't there anyone out there who's prepared to give the poor boy more than a 1 night stand ?  ;) Please !!

He's a really good lad. He just needs someone to love him as much as Ceni and I've done.

Alan, we really hope you find someone who is able to take Benson for you, it takes a dog a while to settle in to somewhere new.  Especially if his own home has been a 5 star affair!
We wish you every success with finding a home and also wish you all the very best for your wifes treatment.  Positive mental attitude, I nursed my Mum through 9 months of chemo and radiotherapy 10 years ago.  Her consultant said that a positive mind will be as good as any medicine.
Take care Carol & Marc

No, I'm still looking for someone to take him on. He's the only 1 of 4 dogs that hasn't been offered a definite home from 1st March.

Would it cost a lot to bring him home with you? Or is that not an option?

That is such a shame. I have only met on GSHP and he was such a character.
He was my brothers friends dog and if they met in the pub my brother would hand over the lead of his Jack Russell to Paddy (gshp) and he would take the Jack Russell for a run round the pub to the amusement of the regulars.

If I didn't have the bar, I would take Benson back. He really is a beautiful lad. We still miss him. Please, somebody give him a home. You won't regret it. Although I think he might take some settling because Alan is definately his mate/Dad!!

It's definitely a huge relief to know that all the dogs are going to be well looked after and we can get on with the business of getting Mrs KKOB fit and well again.:D

Thanks everybody.

Special thanks to Ovaciksarah, and Anna & Ayhan in Incirkoy for at least giving Benson a chance, even though it didn't work out.

Benson has settled in fine to his new home and equally so with his new doggy buddies, he had a new nick name of "Choc Drop", which I wish I had thought of as it suits him so well, I miss him terribly, he was my boy!! and I'm sure he will be absolutely fine when he returns to his proper home with the new occupiers in a few weeks.

Me, I've just had my 2nd session of the 4 step Chemo treatment I'm having here, returned home with all my tablets for the following 2 weeks and will be rattling well and truly by the time they are finished, I'm not doing to bad with the chemo I have a few days after the session of feeling increasing more tired by the day and then about 4 days after I'm that poorly I have to spend a couple of days in bed as I simply dont have the energy even to climb out of it, that lasts for a few days then I start to get a little stronger again and by a week I'm almost back to just being tired all the time. I just have to rest more between little light jobs, which is a bit hard at the moment as we are trying to get a whole little house of needs together again and on a very tight budget it's rather frustrating.......we have a really old little portable tv which we can only get BBC 2 on   lol and the picture is atrocious, but it's better than nothing at all. We are in quite a nice little village out in the sticks which would be lovely when we manage to get a car, at the moment it's a problem getting to the hospital and clinics, supermarkets on the buses, as it's a 1/2 mile walk to the bus stop to begin with  lol.

Anyway, I'm doing ok, 2 sessions down, 4 to go, then surgery, then radiation therapy for maybe 3 sessions..... Thank you for asking X
It's early day's and I'm sure we will settle and get ourselves sorted out

Jen, its lovely to hear from you and you are a real trooper...to say the least, and thats putting it mildly of course......Hope all goes well with the next Chemo Sessions....keep up the strength, you have loads of it..Stu and I could tell.

Hope the doggies are all okay....Choc Drop..how lovely....you hopefully will be able to see him when you are better.

The main thing I think at the moment is that you and Alan are
together other things can come later and are less important than you at the moment, so take care.

Stu and I wish you all the best.
Keep in touch.
June and Stu

Getting your surroundings together will make you both feel better but the main thing is that you get through the treatment!  I am sure you will and come out a more confident person at the end!

The main thing is that you and Alan are together and can come through this together and side by side!

If you need any help whatever it is contact me!

PS Glad Benson is ok!

Ceni, Sorry we missed you when Alan got picked up at the airport, as usual our cases were last to come off and you were away before we got clear.
Keep that positive attitude going.
See you next year.

I am sending you my best wishes to you and Alan as you cope with your new surroundings and the treatment.  It must be good to finally have Alan with you to support you.  Although I have never met you I feel I know you both through Alan's posts as KKOB.

It must be hard trying to put a home together again in UK and I hope you won't be offended if I make a suggestion.  There are groups nationwide that recycle items rather than dispose of them.  I have used them quite a few times here in Bolton.  Its amazing the things that people no longer want but are still in excellent condition and if others can make use of these items then all well and good.  I don't know where you are living but if you are interested try Google-ing Freecycle for your area.  Just a suggestion

take care

Janet

When our son came over from Jersey and while they waited for the furniture to arrive I  visited the salvation army store and got a lovely spotless white couch for thirty pound.  They used it till they got their stuff then donated it back to them.  Might be worth looking for one in your area.

Good Luck to you both, my Dad is having radiotherapy at the moment,:(, he has to go every weekday for 7 weeks and it's a 40 mile round trip, plus injections every 2 month but like you he is taking it all in his stride, (it'll all come out in wash) is his fave saying. :). We are sooooo proud of the way he has handled the last 18 months and I am sure that anyone that knows you feels the same. Good Luck again. Lynn. :)

Thinking of you both, Ceni, we met Alan once on a guided walk, and as readers of the CBF we send you our positive thoughts.  My sister and I supported our Mum through 9 months of chemo and 3 weeks of radiotherapy ten years ago now.  Her best advice was to have positive mental attitude, if you can follow that then you will be doing just right.
Take care, look out for each other and you will be fine.
Love Carol, Marc and girls
