What is common to The Amos and Andy Show,Corrie,Eastenders,Emmerdale etc.and why should they all come clean at the end of the programme ? And don't even think of chimps tea parties!

My experience of Scorcher's quizzes is that the answers may be tricky, but the real time and effort needs to go into fathoming the question :D

Am away for some time.... It's  my wife's birthday today. Not only have M&S cocked up the sweater order for her present but I also got her birth year wrong on one of those poncy DVD cards.Things not looking to good at the moment! I just might be doing a " Captain Oates " in a minute but keep on with the show nonetheless.xx

The Amos and Andy Show was sponsored by cleaning products.

Corrie,Eastenders,Emmerdale etc. are commonly known as soaps.

Amos and Andy used to be Sam & Henry.

Cif used to be Jiff.

PS If two of the chimps were called Amos and Andy or Sam and Henry I WILL shot myself

PPS If my answer is correct I might just shot myself anyway:(

Ok, here we go with the very last clue.I am seeking the common link here which comprises just two names. The first name might keep order in a seat of learning and you also might take a punt on the second and last name.

just for info Proctor and Gamble were the first to advertise their products during the breaks and later sponsored the Amos and Andy radio programme in the 1920s.  Soon afterwards other similar shows (and soap manufacturers) followed suit, and a critic writing in 1938 began referring to them generally as "soaps".  The word "opera" was then borrowed from the popular "horse operas" (a term for cowboy films) of the 1930s.  Thus the beginning of soaps!  The reference to Scunner's avatar was that Cif is one of the leading brands of Pg's
(not chimps tea parties) rivals.  So well done!  Hope you all had fun.
