Anna's Aparthotel. Ive just done search for a pal regarding these apartments. Their website looks pretty inmpressive, but Google Earth makes them look miles from the beach. Same question as Lucy really, has anyone stayed there, how long to get to the beach(in June) & are there a few watering holes(Lokantas)nearby + is the area well lit at night ?
-
It's around 2 minutes from the sea but maybe 5-7 minutes from the prom (especially since someone nicked the bridge!). Certainly not miles, a couple of hundred metres maybe. Well lit and the centre of Calis is nearby :) - I have never stayed there but it always was a nice place for a drink.
-
I think I read on here somewhere that Cathy from Cafe Pazar is running it.
-
Our place is closeby and it is close to everything really. A short distance to the prom - if you walk there is a short cut through the Club E gardens or the dolmust stops outside! it always looks really nice and the pool and gardens look lovely and a nice place to stop for a drinky!

Dolmust: A compulsory bus

Friends of mine stayed early May and were delighted.

Went over the other day to meet friends for a drinks, spoke to a few couples who are staying there and they are very happy with everything. Got shown around a couple of rooms as have friends coming over in Sept and might get them the rooms there.

Hi, has anybody stayed at Anna Apartments recently?
I heard mixed reviews when over in June regarding the rooms? Maybe I should have taken a look while I was there!
-
My daughter and her husband stayed in a self catering unit there first week of May. The rooms are basic but clean and owners/staff seemed friendly. They were happy with it anyway and plan to come back next year.

We returned yesterday from Calis having stayed two weeks at the Anna Apart Otel.
It was interesting to say the least! Basically you get what you pay for. Unfortunately a lot of people paid a lot more than we did. It is quite hard to write this review because generally we weren't too unhappy but over the two weeks we saw some fun and games going on with people moving out and major arguments taking place.
We stayed B & B not in the apartments. The rooms are very small, however the beds are comfortable. There is a small cupboard but basically you have to live out of your suitcase. The bathrooms are adequate always hot water but the showers need regrouting and you have to hold the shower head as the fittings are broken. The AC's work very well however you need to pay an extra £25 per week for them. On the second day I spoke to the Turkish lady who did the cleaning and promised her a tip, from then on we had no problems with our bedding being changed regularly and our bathroom bin being emptied. I also always took the time to thank her and have a few words with her and when we left yesterday we gave her a good tip.
Now for the not so good..the loud music played continuously some nights until later than 4am, this didn't bother us as we had AC so closed our balcony door and we were also the furthest room away from the bar but it annoyed many people. Many people were complaining that they had ants in their rooms and after 5 days their rooms weren't cleaned or the toilet bin emptied, when they asked for their room to be cleaned or more toilet paper they were told they would be charged extra even though they were paying B & B. Don't be late for breakfast even 5 minutes as you will be charged for this breakfast. And most importantly if you buy drinks or food pay for it straight away DO NOT run up a tab, this was the biggest problem in the hotel and one day it almost ended in the tourist police being phoned, as when a lovely Scottish lady booked out she had another couples drinks on her bill from the night before, when she queried it the manager said that the other couple told him to put the drinks on her bill!!!
The pool was always clean however most of the sun beds are broken be very careful before you sit or lay on one, you need to check it. The hotel is on the main road and very noisy. Also if you are an animal lover as I am I was very upset as I saw two dogs run over in the road infront of the hotel.
The hotel is very badly run, one day Turkish guests staying in the hotel bought in their own take away food and sat next to the pool eating it even though the hotel restaurant is right there. The staff never emptied ashtrays or came to the pool to ask if anyone wanted a drink so with the result everyone walked across the road to the supermarket and bought the drinks from there and bought them back to the pool.
We did laugh one day as a couple arrived at the hotel at 5.30am to be met by a very drunk manager who struggled to take them to their room and then eventually he got them there and managed to get the door open, it was already occupied. Must say we had a little laugh but then we weren't the ones arriving tired at that time of the morning.
There was a Turkish man around who was the 'manager' he was very unfriendly and spoke basically no English, he also took our AC control from our room after 6 days and told us we had had it for 7 days, tried to charge us for drinks we never had, and if we did would have paid for them straight away. There was also an English guy called Duggie who we saw 4 days of the 14 days we were there as he was trying to sort out all the complaints, he was a nice enough guy but was never really around.
A few good points.. the young guys behind the bar were very friendly especially the guy who was also the chef. He worked extremely hard all hours and infact so often I thought he would make a very good manager as he seemed to try and sort out all the problems.
Its about a 10 minute walk to the front but the dolmus runs straight outside the hotel so easy to get around or to go into Fethiye. Supermarket across the road so easy to get water or anything else you needed.
Would I stay here again, no I probably wouldn't because for an extra few pound a night there are better places to stay in Calis.

Oh dear :(
What a real shame to read. There used to be some brilliant BBQ nights at Anna Aparts years ago, they were packed. Seems like the staff have just been left to run it and the staff really can't be bothered. The manager sounds a right charmer :-\
-
Well on that note, i'm sooo glad I have booked the Oykun!!
Booked direct, £13 pppn, b+b in Sept and £9 in October.
Bargain!! 8)
-
Oh no we will be there 5 wk today, don't like the sound of it at all now:(, we are in the apartments are they as bad :o. We have already had our flights changed due to the Goldtrail fiasco.:-\
-
OMG- some of what has been described remind me of Calis hotels of old- particularly the grouting in the bathrooms and hand held showers! In fact we became quickly accomstomed to some of these little foibles and when we first went back to spain a few years ago we felt we were staying in 5 star luxory compared so some Calis hotels we have stayed in. But of course all that has changed along with peoples expectations and what were once quirky little anomolies are unacceptable. They need to wake up ! I hope people are doing their tripadvisor reviews !
-
Jenny, thanks for your email I have replied via yours. :). I have been looking at the reviews on Trip Advisor and Holiday Watchdog and most of them are not very good (to say the least)!. Will we be able to move hotels when we get there, do hotels have vacancy signs like they do here or do we ask at hotel receptions for vacant rooms apartments etc. I know I sound negative but if its as bad as it sounds we won't even bother unpacking:(. All the reviews before 2009 are good when someone called mehmet was there, I read these before I booked. :)

I hope you don't have to change Lynn, but just in case you do, the Harman and Golden Moon both have good reviews-I have stayed at Golden Moon, it's lovely.
And prices and for both are reasonable.
Hopefully Anna's get there act together before you get there!
I'm sure you will be fine

Is this still the case? The reviews on Tripadvisor for the last two months are absolutely crushing - has nobody told Cathy that (or indeed about this topic)? Surely she would want to know and to address the problems. I don't know her, I've been to Cafe Pazar a couple of times and it to me doesn't appear to be anything like how the Anna Aparts are being described. Hence I asked if it was still run by the same people.

Review from holiday watchdog.com Jul 2010.
Just back from a wonderful weeek in Calis, made even more fantastic by our experience at the Anna.
We just couldn't believe our luck, arriving at this lovely, friendly, family run hotel
- great staff who couldn't do enough to make sure our stay was perfect
- relaxing pool area and decent size pool
- beautiful gardens, ideal for chilling out and relaxing in the shade
- lovely bar with a good size TV to enjoy the World cup and decent music .....most of the time :)
- excellent food, freshly prepared by the chef who always has a smile and obviously really cares about your enjoyment of what he has prepared for you
- really convenient, being just a short and very pleasant walk down to Calis beach, bars and restaurants
The accomodation is basic, but clean and always cool, despite the hot July sun. Didn't even need the air con, even though it was available.
This was unbelievable for what we paid, value for money doesn't even begin to describe this holiday.
Thank you to everyone at the Anna, we will be back as soon as we can

This was the only good review out of nine and it seems a bit to good to me compared to the rest.!!
I think somebody is trying to let the owners know.
Do you think I am panicking :-\. I have emailed you about the Letoon as they have vacancies for our dates.
-
A bit good indeed :D
What could it be specifically that this few hundred square metres of Calis has, that makes aircon not required at all in July!
-
to be true :D

Yes that did worry especially with the temperatures as they are at present. :)
-
Am here now and aircon is a PRIORITY! The breeze just dies at different times of the day and if your room has the sun on it, it is literally a sweatbox! At night it is very humid on the front so as I say aircon is a PRIORITY!
-
just returned from a fortnight at Anna aparthotel (opposite Genpa).
Well reading this thread what mixed reviews!!
On arrival we were taken aback at the size of the room, which is compact. We had aircon, which indeed is charged extra, but so it is in Calis I believe. We expected £3 per night so £25 per week was ok.
The rooms although compact, where clean and the sheets and towels changed regularly. Wasnt convinced when we arrived that we had made the right choice but we were won over by the end of the fortnight. They couldn't do enough for you. Yes we paid as we went along rather than running up a tab which was probably the best way to do things as they did seem to think we had had things we hadnt paid for. However when we said we had paid they were ok and there was no big to do about it. Meals (snacks and breakfasts) were good. Certainly the accommodation was very basic - Turkey 6 years ago and not moved on but hey thats Turkey and we loved it. You get a good deal for a good price/ Keep on top of your tab/ ask nicely for whatever you dont have and they will accommodate. Don';t know who runs it, we didn't see evidence of english owners. The manager was fine as were the staff. Good place, locals and ex pats use it - that speaks volumes !
Would I use it again - yes unless I wanted to spend a fortune on the beach front - if you think the music at Anna is loud - try a hotel on the beach front !!!!

The Aries is now the Orient....so as not to confuse!!!.....I liked Annas when we have been there with Andy and Pauline, what I saw I would stay there but when things change its difficult to judge straight away.....and yes the Dolmust is definately a compulsory bus :)).....
