I was wondering, a few years back any website describing Uzumlu told of the lacemaking ladies there, who drove a hard bargain with tourists. Is that all still the case? Do tourists come looking for lace?
Thanks :)

Dastar ? yes, lots of the local ladies still sit at their looms all day long. Lots of places to buy headscarves, table cloths etc. When we bought our house, our turkish neighbour proudly presented us with headscarves each and a beautiful embroidered table cloth that she had made. I hope lots will be on show at the mushroom festival this weekend. I'm not sure that tourists come looking for the dastar, or just the lovely tranquility of the village, but I guarantee any visit to the winehouse will result in one of the eagle eyed ladies following you down the lane inviting you to 'come see'....'just look....' (also tempting you with the infamous village wine.......)
