Title: Things that perplex me
Post by: peecee on April 19, 2010, 05:28:34 AM
Why is that when you buy a plant in a pot, with loads of soil, you dig a hole, put the plant and soil in, replace the soil from the hole you've dug and there's STILL a dip?[?]
Always wanted to know.
What else perplexes people?

Great first posting biker1 couldn't agree more, this person (Peecee) said could not be bothered with the forum if such nonsense postings were listed about restaurants and menu's and promptly posted about holes and earth - yes 'Get a Life' or take up fly fishing at least!!

What perplexes me is two new members with 5 posts between them come on here and slate a member for placing a topic that will probably have some interest for some members, H does it all the time and many people follow his topics.
It's light hearted conversation, if it doesnt hold any interest for you thats fine, maybe you can make a very interesting topic between you.

At least you tried Peecee!!  What perplexes me is why new members come on and do injustice to other members when they know nothing about them!!
Keep trying Peecee!!

What perplexes me is why oh why when I squeeze the very last bit of toothpaste out of an empty tube it falls down the waste pipe before I can get the toothbrush in my mouth!

OK - how sad am I and I should get a life!!

Peecee I think a couple of people might have it in for you. "Gingernut" is Denise Atkins posting under a poorly cloaked alias. Not "Raymond Peters" as claimed in her profile. I don't know her, sorry if you do. Gingernut also removed.

It's been a while since the 2% of members who are from Uzumlu caused 99% of the bitching on CBF, welcome back.

Thank you for that, Scunner.  Not long ago there was a possibility that I would have to go back to the UK for a while.  I had thought of renting my house out and Denise and her husband wanted to rent it.  Circumstances changed, I didn't go so must have upset her that way.  Sorry I couldn't help, Denise, but that's life.
Was also going to say to both posters they obviously didn't read my first post re: menus properly.  Whilst it's nice to know what is going on in the restaurants it's not the be all and end all of living in Uzumlu.  We're not braindead (I'm on the way though! :)) so thought it would be nice to 'discuss' more open issues.
My question re: holes is genuine.  I still ask why, when, where, what and how :o  So, if anyone out there has a scientific mind (or even a guess would do!) would love to know.

Hillside - Sorry, don't know the answer, have you tried putting your mouth in front of the hole?  Awkward but works for me:P

Actually Gingernut isn't me but my brother who wanted to join the forum and logged in a few days ago he doesn't have a PC at home and use my PC here. I would not be so petty as to post something on the basis of a rented house that didn't happen - so apologies if you think that plus I don't know who you are Peece?
Anyway brother a bit of a wind up merchant obviously thinking he was being clever!! No harm intended I guess anyway he is due to go back to the UK soon or not!!

You wanted to rent his house and you don't know who he is?

Please also be careful who uses your PC as it will be traced directly to you. Your brother doesn't sound like a wind up merchant at all to be fair, he sounds like a bit of a dipstick.

Can't agree Calvin, I agree with Scunner only a moron would post a reply like that to a question!!:D:D
By the way nobody has come up with an answer for Peecee yet?
Thinking about it I don't know why either!!
Its like why does a buttered piece of bread always land butter side down when dropped? Come on 'H' you must have loads of questions on this topic!! ;)

An opening post as a newcomer to a forum is often a brief introduction, sometimes a question but never telling someone to "get a life". If you think it is acceptable to enter a public place for the first time in that "tongue in cheek" way, walk into a pub you have never been in before and tell the regulars to "get a life". Remember to ask the nurses to post the photos of your injuries on CBF for us all to have a "tongue in cheek" giggle.

Nobody that opens their CBF account with that sort of message will be staying. Does anyone seriously want to argue with that?

Buttered butter lands buttered side down because it's heavier (the butter, that is) gravity and all that.  Still not sure about the toothpaste though!
Keep asking the questions, you'll get the answer eventually!

'Highlander', Peecee he always has good questions mainly in a quiz!!  A better contact is Lance, questions are out of this world but honestly asking for help (I think??)  Have you read the diaries?
As far as I know the answer to the toothpaste question is that you are that busy concentrating on the empty tube that you miss that your hand has turned and the toothbrush is not straight so OOOOPS!!!
Somebody will tell me if I'm wrong!! Ha Ha!
Title: Things that perplex me
Post by: peecee on April 19, 2010, 18:36:15 PM
Thank you, Cheers, now know who Highlander is.  Can't understand, though, why concentrate on an empty tube of toothpaste?  Be easier to get a new, full one!

Denise, I'm rather surprised that you say you don't know me as we exchanged emails via the CBF 3/4 times re: the rental of the house.  I also came round to see you and explain/apologise why I wouldn't be able to rent out.  Obviously didn't make much of an impression! (but thank you, once again, for the coffee)
I hope your new house purchase is going well.

Ok so a question - why does a bottle of frozen water always feel heavier than liquid water? I'm assured it weighs the same but it always feels blooming heavy in my beach bag!

Why does my wife, when buying eggs, always check inside the box and every time find none broken, and I never check inside and there is always one broken :D
Title: Things that perplex me

Answers - Because air gets trapped in the water (oxygentated?) therefore would weigh more? (truthfully, don't really know but someone will:P

Scunners question - because you dropped them but didn't have the chutzpa to admit it:D

Hillside its cos its cold on your hand and you don't want to carry it!!  You put it in your bag and its the same thought!!
Oh I'm on Lances wavelength ............. RESCUE ME!!!!
Always check my eggs in Morrisons Keith and be careful how you pack them.  If you pack them upright they will  not break - side on is another matter...................... RESCUE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Peecee, to answer your question bout holes and soil. In Uzumlu unless you are very fortunate when you dig a hole you aquire a large number of stones.  After you have discarded the stones you have just enough soil to pack around your new plant and the soil that came with.

As to the butter side down. Statistically speaking there is a 50% chance of the bread landing on either the buttered side or the unbuttered side. If you are the same as me then someone somewhere in the world buys less bread as their buttered bread always lands on the unbuttered side.

That brings me to the toothpaste, if you were a peice of toothpaste would you after the life squeezed out of you want to go into someones mouth.  Lets face it you have struggled to stay in the tube in the chance that you might escape.

My excuse for my above comments is that it is very late, I have had a busy day and I'm extremely tired.

Forgot this bit - Have spent 30 years digging the stones out of my garden so none left, but as Peecee said the plant is lower than the surrounding surface when planted!  Unless I take the soil from the surrounding surface I have the same question!
Peecee what have you started?
Title: Things that perplex me
Post by: peecee on April 20, 2010, 03:17:12 AM
Thank you C-E, logical answers.
Cheers - Hopefully something that is amusing and informative.
I, like you, dug all the stones out of the garden when I moved in (even to the point of sieving the soil. That IS sad, perhaps I do need a life! Or want a good garden ;)) But still get the dip.
Having said that, come end of year and weeding I find even more have come up to the surface. Why?

Forum not really the ideal place to be discussing private/personal matters, all our emails were done via private home email addresses and no I did not link your user name with you personally and my brother (Gingernut) would not have had a clue when he joined the forum who anyone was! I sent you a personal email as well! Although he is very sad he has been thrown out off! he didn't realise we didn't have freedom of speech! So before I was named and shamed an email to me from Scunner would had been more helpful!!:-\

It is amazing how people like you think it is perfectly fine for them and their family to use a public forum to be rude and obnoxious, but when the subject turns to them, a private email is the way to go!

If you can't control who uses your computer, switch it off and lock the door. For the record I can say I personally do not believe it was a brother, I believe it was you.

If you think you and your family can anonymously attack (oops, sorry! "wind up") people in public but have it discussed in private you are living on a different planet to the rest of us, that will never happen on CBF.

Franky I don't care what you think!!  You are monitoring the forum, you have a duty to perhaps contact people to at least ask them information instead of jumping to conclusions!  You obviously only have one view and if anyone tries to disagree you personally attack them as well so you are no better than the rest of us!
Again I haven't been rude or in your words obnoxious to anyone until now!!to you - you may think  (And stating people like me being rude and obnoxious) sorry isn't that being rude??  Or perhaps I am on a different plant?? Unlike you who thinks its perfectly ok that I look over the shoulder of anyone using my PC!
For your information I sent a private email apologising to Clare on behalf of my brother!
Title: Things that perplex me
Post by: Scunner on April 20, 2010, 10:15:38 AM
Let me give you my theory.

You have a problem with Clare, you signed up under an alias so you could be rude to her, you are not experienced in the data you leave behind when you do so, you got caught out, you made up a cock and bull story about a brother to hide your blushes. You aren't the first and you won't be the last.

You claim you don't know peecee, why would your "brother" on a temporary visit choose her from 6000 members to "wind up"?

It was you, admit it and don't let it happen again. You have ruined this light hearted topic and if you can't simmer down you'll be going the same way as your mythical brother. If you don't like the way we monitor this forum, find another - CBF is not compulsory.

duhh I give up!! - I don't have a problem with Clare - never had, she is really nice and visited us! offered some help which was very nice of her!! Still don't have a problem with Clare and she knows this!!! It was the topic that got my brother going, he is here in the flesh, flew out to us on Thursday to sell his villa - do you want me to scan you his flight ticket?? any a few people have actually seen him in the flesh!! He does exist really!!
Title: Things that perplex me
Post by: Scunner on April 20, 2010, 10:38:17 AM
HAHAHA Never had a problem with Clare - at half past 4 yesterday you claimed you didn't know her! You don't need to borrow a spade do you lol

Don't worry about scanning your brother's ticket, I am not disputing the existence of a brother, you might even have ten bothers.

You persistently prevent the return of this topic to the light hearted subject you (or your family) hijacked with rudeness. Sorry folks, I will have to lock this one, please feel free to start another.
