Title: Petrichor
Post by: Colwyn on April 29, 2010, 16:53:42 PM
Petrichor. Wonderful word. It is formed from the Greek petros (stone) + ichor (the fluid that is supposed to flow in the veins of the gods in Greek mythology). It means the smell that comes from the earth when it rains after a long spell of dry weather. It is the smell that is emanating from my garden now. Lovely.

What an excellent post to reach your 1300 milestone. My olfactory receptors are in sensory sympathy even in the depths of a city office. 8)
