Hi to everyone.  My name is lorraine and i have been living in Turkey
since January of this year with my husband Gordon. We have been
coming to Turkey for holidays for the last 6yrs and fell in love.  i cannot
say how much i love Turkey, but today whilst clearing up i found a Turkish book
and inside was a scrape of paper which Gordon had written what i couldn't say.

" A land of majestic soaring mountains, bordering Crystal turquoise seas,
home to people with a real true identity, proud of their culture and heritage. A
country which we have chosen to make our home. This for us is Turkey".

I always said he was an artist but not quite the kind i was thinking of!!!!!!! (Efes is involved)

Thanks to Keith for coming out on Saturday at short notice to show our friend a villa
as he was returning to uk the following morning.

Keep up the good work on the forum it has proved to be a good point for information
and advice.

Hi Loz welcome to the forum - glad you are enjoying being here.  Gordons love of the place has obviously bought out his artistic flair (without Efes !!!)

Thanks for the warm welcome, i am sure it is the warmth of the Turkish rubbing off on us all. Good luck on your move Alan i am sure that we will all bump into eachother eventually.   Lisa I hope all goes well for you also, bit jealous of you spending xmas in uk as this will be my first without and not quite got my head round it as yet, but i have seen an artificial xmas tree in Migros, just got to convince Gordon christmas is not humbug!!!  otherwise i love it here and have no visions of returning to the uk (even for a hol) the first few mnths were a bit bumpy but can hardly remember them now,
Don't be afraid of Gordon if you see him he just looks hard but underneath is a "poetic softie" good job he never reads this! and orange he tends to look less harmful the more efes he downs curtailed him to 4 now.

Hi Loz, Just beginning to look for a place there, any tips would be helpful. Am coming alone after a big change in life, and need a new start, so will need to find a few friends. Was so pleased to come across this site. I like to write poetry, and have loved my last few holidays in Turkey. I love sailing too. Cant stand these grey skies a minit longer. Will take into the new year to get sorted out, but meanwhile any advice will be sooooo welcome.

Hi Elli, you are at the right place. Many members own a place in Turkey (including us!) or at least enjoy going on holiday there

Good luck with your search

Hi Elli a warm welcome from turkey.

You have come to the right place for tips and advice, this site is full of them, interesting helpful and amusing you have the lot.  You say that you will be wanting to change your life, well this part of turkey is the place to do just that. you can be as sociable as needs call or alone to collect your thoughts (maybe for your poetry).  The people of all nationalities are warm friendly and inviting.

Our friend has been out to visit us twice since October and has fallen in love with the place so much is looking to purchase a property, and luckily for him he has a very nosey friend in me as i am villa searching for him camera in hand and going home to write long emails discribing location state of property resale, new, off plan etc.... I am enjoying doing this hubby thinks that i am a frustrated estate agent, told him no just nosey.

When we came to Turkey on summer holiday we always wanted marble floors and stairs, however, as much as we loved them we rented a property in January February with both and were very cold as the marble soon lost the heat. we have since purchased a house with wooden floors and stairs and central heating and are warm as toast, yet still cool in the hot hot summer; therefore speaking through my personal experience and preference this is my ideal.

I hope that you get sorted and start planning your new life in Turkey you won't go wrong as long as you ask questions and read the site.

WELCOME.
