Title: newbie and of to calis beach.
Post by: majorca36 on May 13, 2010, 14:23:55 PM: hi all i have just booked a holiday to calis beach staying at the okyan hotel .
we are so excited as we have never been to turkey before there is myself my husband and my son who is 14 but has special needs.
what are the turkish like with children and would they understand about special needs espicially as he looks "normal".

also is there a water park in the area and boat trips ect
any advice i would be extremely gratefull

hope you have a lovely holiday.

The Turkish people love children which for many UK children can be almost too much. Your son is 14 so at least he probably have his cheeks pinched and big kisses lathered on him.

The Turks are a very accepting people I think you have no worries on that score.

Lots of info on water parks and boat trips in the topics. I am sure you'll find them as you browse or do a search on the site.

Post by: Scunner on May 13, 2010, 14:34:05 PM: Of all the places in the World I have been to where people tell you "Oh they love children there", nothing comes close to Turkey in my view and nothing in Turkey comes close to Calis for showing it. Your son will have no problems I am sure.

the first thing he said is "mummy do they have toys" so hopefully someone will let me know if they have toys or gift shops so i can let him know

I can only concur with the replies already posted. There are plenty of boat trips from the harbour in Fethiye, and there is a water park in Ovacik just a short dolmus ride away.

I am sure that you will all enjoy Turkey very much, and I would wager that you'll return

We come out on the 15th August and are staying in the Hotel Remer, so you never know we may bump into each other. I can guarantee you that you will love Calis it is definitely like Paradise.

Post by: kizkucuk on May 16, 2010, 11:14:09 AM: Welcome to the forum - and Calis - the Oykun is a friendly family run hotel - there are usually inflatables and floats around the pool area- people buy them and leave them behind throughout the summer - your son will be more than welcome - there is an Aqua Park in Calis not far from the hotel that is quite reasonably priced and also the Calis Water Taxis do daily boat trips - there are only a maximum of 12 people on the boat so not too crowded or too big. There are lots of gift shops and a small mini market opposite the hotel that sells all sorts of things - there is a big shop on the left as you go onto the beach that always has a huge range of inflatable everything in the summer but you will need to haggle. Enjoy your holiday :-)

The Turkish people are wonderful with children and the staff at the Oykun are no exception. It's a lovely, friendly, comfortable hotel and you will be made to feel welcome as soon as you arrive.
