Who is going to admit to trying out MacDonalds which opened in Fethiye yesterday?:D
-
had breakfast this morning yum:D
-
Looking forward to a milkshake and Phil can't wait to have their breakfast! How does the chicken patty compare to the sausage you get in McD's in the UK?
-
couldnt tell the difference
-
He'll be a happy chappy then! Cheers Tracey.
-
Yum

The Food Police will be after you lot......watch out.... ;)
-
The restaurant next door ADam well worth a visit!! And also I noticed new place the other side is Pizza and hotdogs
-
Pizza and hot dogs...OMG!!!! How dare they????
-
apparently the opening was very busy, but the kiddies giveaways were only a baloon if you were lucky...tight gits!
i think your going to have a lot of fat kids around here in the future..passed it yesterday lunchtime and was full of school kids..
interesting to note its open 24/7.
-
Fat kids...come on let's be honest...have you even looked at the ingredients of local food?? I have not touched a doner in 3 years because I saw the raw materials being put together, could not eat another bite:-\ I check out recipes all the time cos I love food and cooking...nothing particularly healthy about a lot of Turkish cuisine. McD's is OK from time to time as is Adana kebab (how much fat in that recipe!!!). My policy is a little bit of what you fancy does no harm...just a shame my fancy is always creamy Indian, Italian etc! Yeah, I know, I'm fat:P Chin, chin.
-
You can't single out one food outlet and suggest it will be responsible for creating "a lot of fat kids around here".
I agree with Janmack - McDonalds is not the worst option available and only if the kids replace any physical activity for sitting in front of computers/TV all day and night are things likely to change significantly.
I only occasionally have McD's, take-aways, KFC etc but I'm a chubbie - I somehow suspect it could be more to to with lack of exercise in mine and many other cases. I come to Calis, eat 3 meals a day instead of 2 (including Baclava and some "junk"), walk loads, swim loads and feel better at the end of 2 weeks - strange that!
-
i have to disagree with janmack in so far as saying turkish food is unhealthy.
a lot of the food here is cooked with an abundance of vegetables herbs and spices.
as far as fast foods concerned i dont think you would eat some british sausages if you saw what goes into them. and i wont even go near what goes into salami...lol
-
Extract from BBC website.
Research by the UK's Food Standards Agency in 2006 found that 18.5% of doner takeaways posed a "significant" threat to public health, and 0.8% posed an "imminent" threat.
And Trading Standards officers have found doners with up to 22% fat, and up to 12g of salt - that's two heaped teaspoons, double the recommended daily intake.
-
Back to Mcdonalds..... visited on the opening day, have not had maccy d's in a long while. It was lovely!!!
-
I'm not saying all Turkish food is unhealthy Stuart! Just asking if a doner is any better than any other fast food. And I hate sausages BTW. lol.
-
its english donners that have all that fat and salt.there the worst take away food you can get in england for fat content. the ones in turkey arent the same.

99% of statistics are made up on the spot ;)
The difficulty I have with the BBC's daily health warnings is that nothing is quantified -
How many takeaways did they test,(18.5% of what number?) what does "significant" threat mean - you could drop down dead five minutes after eating just one or could collapse in 20 years after eating 6 a day?
We hear daily that this "could" pose a threat or that "may" be damaging to health.... well maybe just balance and moderation could be the answer?
As for McD's in Fethiye changing all the local kids into porkers - somehow I doubt it... but hey, it's another good topic for the health police to shout about and try to get banned. :-\
-
Where about in Fethiye is it? We enjoy having all sorts of foot while on hols, but for some strange reason something draws me towards McMuffin meals. Yes I know, I'm sad!
-
Nobody is forced to walk through those doors, all things in moderation etc. (4/5 times a week) Lol.:D
-
Was somewhat surprised to see when walking past the other day that they had uniformed security on duty.....is that to protect the staff or control the hungry punters outside......or maybe they were just hungry punters:D 8)
-
It is just a restaurant just like any other, the more choice the better for Fethiye. As far as i know McDonalds have no affiliation with devil worship, nor do they want to overthrow governments, its a bloody posh cafe, no better or no worse then any others all around the world. xx
-
Hi
Tried kiddies meal at Mcdonalds and enjoyed every bit.But had to ask for the toy that comes with it. Great to have the choice. Sometimes get fed up with doner kebab.
-
I think having Macca Ds is great, what people seem to forget is that it is bringing jobs all year round for the locals, and that has to be good news, as much as I love trying the local restaurants and lokantas I will also be trying Macca Ds.

We called in on Thursday lunchtime. It's really nice in there - very clean and modern. Our daughter had a meal (roughly the same price as McD's in the UK.) She enjoyed it - but we chose to go elsewhere to eat! :)
-
Where is the new Mac Donalds situated in Fethiye please? Cant beat a Maccys when I have a hangover for some reason!
-
Im back next week, do they do the UK breakfast menu, ie bacon egg bagal[?] :)
-
Mac Donalds is situated at the old 'Tatlitest' restaurant in Fethiye. Close to the harbour and the tuesday market. Can't remember the name of the restaurant next door though, sorry :-\
If you are travelling down the main harbour road, from Calis to Fethiye, then go passed the trampolines, and the canal for the Tuesday market, it is on your left... just after the traffic lights Can't miss it really :)
-
Did anyone watch the film 'Supersize me' on TV last night?
-
How much is a bigmac and fries please? Do they taste exactly the same?
Cheers
-
Mark, dont be pathetic, find out for your self if you are so interested.Only tourists and turkish kids go there.
-
and Cenk and Olga!
-
That's uncalled for, Captainjohn. What's with the rudeness? I asked a perfectly reasonable question, so no need for you to get upset over it! In my experience it isn't only kids and tourists who visit McDonalds - locals do too. Even middle-aged businessmen who fancy a quick bite to eat, and fancy a burger rather than a donor kebab. Whole families sometimes stop off at a McDonalds too,it certainly isn't just kids or tourists.
What, are you too posh for a Big Mac then? lol

:D:D
-
if you like MacDonalds in the UK...then I'm sure you will like the one here.....This is neither a recommendation nor a critisim.
Buger king seems much the better option

The milkshakes aren't bad either. ;)
